I think a decent idea for an episode would be one where part of the show is filmed inside a futuristic amusement park. Not that I have any real specific ideas, would just be a cool setting. You got the crazy rides/carnies trying to get your money through stupid 'games of skill'/possibly someone walking around in a costume meeting some alien that is real that looks like the guy in the costume. I'm imagining bumper cars with like lasers and a scene where there is a chase, and someone gets bumped into a rail, and explodes. Possibly one of those 'spider rides' using a gigantic spider as the ride. Make a 'bullet train ride' thats over in like 5 seconds, blurring the background, which could be amusing if people understand the pretense that trains are for a slow relaxing tour of the park. (not funny, but for culture) There could be a space needle, that you could ride into space. Possibly the ship could wreck into the tip of the space needle and crash onto the planet for the professor prolly would not schedule a trip to an amusement park. There could be ride that turns everyone upside down shakes them, and collects all their change and stuff at a lil pit at the bottom... The park would then have an elaborate system in which it sorts change out(keeps it of course), prizes so they can be sent back to be won again, and possibly other stuff goes dif places. Hmmm, maybe Bender could loose his arm, and find it later for a prize to be won. It'd be cool if it'd be at one of those competition games and it was won by an annoying lil kid(all the crew tries to play at the same time to help Bender possibly). Bender could complain he lost cuz he only had one arm(lots of 1 arm Bender antics possible). There are reasons the kid could have power over Bender such that the bot doesn't gank the arm off him(he's rich and has security guards, has ability to destroy arm etc), but basically Bender would need to do what the kid(needs a very annoying bratty voice) says. The kid could ask him to do things that requires two arms, or he could be put in situations that require it. Later on the kid will loose his power over Bender somehow, and Bender will somehow get sweet revenge after getting his arm back(everyone likes to see bratty controlling kids get a dose of reality... from a um... robot... 1000 years in the future... nevermind about that reality thing) One could make the new ride a 'funhouse' and have a line like 1 mile long, but it ends up being really dull, like having 1 warped mirror with some other lame effects, and everyone but Fry would be excited(whole technology advancing faster than arts thing). This would leave a situation open where Fry could wander on his own, while the others wait in line. Lots could happen n' stuff in a 'musement park

No that episode was more or less moon related and minimally about a futuristic amusment park. Hell only 4-5 minutes of it was really in the danged park!!!!

You mean like this fake episode?
"When Speilberg Ruled the Earth" (2ACV04) The crew visit Dione, the theme-park owned moon of Saturn, at which dinosaurs have supposedly been genetically engineered and habitated.
It could be called "Billy & the Clone-a-saurus"
. . "Smithers, have the Rolling Stones killed." "But sir, that's not..." "Do as I say!"
I made up a fake episode a while ago about Leela breaking her arm, forcing Fry to become the temporary captain and accidentally lose Leela in hyperspace ... in any case, it was called "Mostly Armless." You're welcome to take the title. :-)
Of course, that pun's already being used in the commercials for next week's episode. Back to the drawing board.
How about an old cliche - time travel.
Fry has a chance to go back in time to stop himself from being frozen. or Fry has a chance to back and stay in the 2oth century.
They could do some praody of the Terminator or City on the Edge of Forever or Back to the Future. . . "Smithers, have the Rolling Stones killed." "But sir, that's not..." "Do as I say!"
Just thought of something better -
What if Fry has to go back in time for some reason, and takes along a talking pie as his companion. - No wait, Ron Howard's done that.
. . "Smithers, have the Rolling Stones killed." "But sir, that's not..." "Do as I say!"
Only if they use the Guardian. Futurama needs to parody some TOS episodes already.

How about Leela slaying vampires as a parody of "Buffy"? After all, she already has the kick-ass attitude. Hey...are there any vampires in New New York anyway?

How about ROBOT vampires, who attack Bender and suck out all his oil?
i dunno, i get bored i sit down, i think of a futurama episode. Ya can read if you want, if you don't just skip it like I do all the nitpicky spam. Its just brainstorming, not straight forward story. Hmm, a comical situation could involve bender getting interfered with b by a radio controlled vehicle. How this could occur, I dunno. Various radio control types are cars, planes, helicopters, all of which probably don't have immediate comical value. Maybe a VR video game where 2 players strap on equipment and fight vs each other in small rings, but don't actually make contact with each other, instead they simulate a fight in hologram mode. Bender could accidentally pick up the signal and go on a rampage hauling ass.
Well thats amusing to me at least, but hardly an episode. Lets see, maybe Fry will start playing with buttons, making the ship transform. Oh yah, and will assemble with 5 other ships to form voltron, oh sorry stuck on that voice thing. The ship is green and all...
Um, hnmm, maybe they could get stuck in an abandoned planet, and not find their way off. They desperately try and escape, but fail every time they try. This could lead to lots of episodes even. I mean you have your professor guy, who will think up lots of smart things he could do with the native wildlife. But you got your worthless idleminded goof who will screw up everything so they won't get saved. You got your robotic down to earth guy, skipper as we like to call him. You got one eyed alien that always has trouble percieving depth, and you're two millionares. I think they alredy made this one though under the pretense 'Lost in Space'.
I am disatisfied with anything i wrote, I'll post quotes from my RPG set in a very similar universe as futurama's then write some more before heading to work or sleep.
So I don't know why I feel the need to post this, I just do cuz. So anyway I was trying to think of popular stupid topics, and I thought of the Clinton scandal. I never made any jokes about that cuz it was lame and the only reason ppl thought it was funny was cuz it was talked about alot... But wouldn't it be easy to make indirect inuendos about Monica's head in a jar ^^
So maybe they could get a time machine and move back 1000 years in the past. Fry and bender... They could fix up Fry's life by getting his gf back, fixing up with winning lottery tickets and what not... But then Fry realizes he'd be living in the past and not have ever met Bender, so they move back in the past once more and stop themselves from doing stuff that would have fixed Fry's life. This could lead to tons of great things. But really I was just thinking of the pun if someone came up and said: Hey Mc. Fry. Wow, brain running on 0.
Maybe Fry could get hit with a telemarketer and fall into a scam where he must stay in a time share for a week. Kinda like today's ones that elderly get conned into and are cajoled into vacationing at florida. Need sleep. creativity waning....

That reminds me of two Red Dwarf episodes. The one where Lister goes back in time and gives himself the idea for "Tension Sheets" (they're really just packing bubbles painted red) causing himself to vanish and start life anew as a billionaire. Kryten and Cat also disappear because Lister was involved in their existance. Rimmer meanwhile doesn't like being stuck in space with Holly and decides to go back and give himself the idea for tension sheets, not realising that the correct inventor stole the idea from him in the first place, restoring everyone to the correct time.
The other episode would be the one where they went back in time to Dallas 1963 on a curry hunt, and Cat pushes Lee Harvey Oswold out the window, killing him and saving Kennedy. Then they go forward into the future and discover Kennedy was impeached in a sex scandal and the Russians won the space race. The dwarfers then decide to stop themselves from killing Oswold, but bungle it even more, and eventually get the future Kennedy to shoot himself from the grassy knoll.......
I really hope Futurama does some sort of Red Dwarf joke. Maybe have bender attend a friend's reunion at Toilet University (but isn't that a software program?). Would be neat if they got Robert Llewellyn in for a guest voice.

A not unlikley posability. arn't they going to film part of the roumored Red Dwarf Film in the US?

Robert Llewellyn was the only original cast member to appear in the pilot of the American Red Dwarf show. I never saw the pilot, but I've heard it was terrible and it never got picked up. The movie deal is pretty official. It's the original cast and I hope it's done by the writers and production, wherever they shoot it. Silicon Graphics is doing the space ship and special effects work. They also did Lost In Space.
They increased the number of episodes per season so they'd have enough for a syndication deal in the U.S. after the movie comes out.
As far as a direct cross over, the two shows take place 3 million years apart. They could still have some of the RD cast as voice talent. Chris Barrie did voice work on Labyrinth.

Not to criticize, but why do so many of these "Episode ideas" involve the crew (or usually just Fry) getting a time machine and going back in time? The whole point of the show is that they are in the future; best to try and refer to topics from our day as they are in the future (Monica's-head-in-a-jar, fine). Sorry, it just kind of bugs me (though, admittedly, a time machine epsiode might be fun, but not for the purpose of getting Fry back to his old time; he doesn't wanna).

fine).
Criticizing is cool. I was up late couldn't think of anything else, but needed a break from school work. I agree it wouldn't be all too great either.
Bored again. Being bored is a good thing cuz then you go do stuff thats fun.
A neet idea for a part of an Episode would be Leela being all jealous of Amy so she tries to find a guy that would romaticize over her. And she finds this perfect guy, who later turns out to be Zapp's Brother. Then the otherwise suave guy would start doing 'guy talk'(they both talk of all their exploits and both only slept with her, demeaning her in the process) with Zapp. Perhaps they both have cronies too. Because Zap's brother could have his lil guy steal something of Leela's(ar enough away not to get beaten by her personally), then Zapp's brother beats up the lil cronie guy and returns to give her the purse. But he also kicks it when its down more than its needed.(comedy from acting in a role vs being a guy's friend)
I think it would be cool if they traveled to a planet that was utterly peaceful maybe call it peacefulon. Nothing there defended itself in a fight. If stuff got broken, then they just fix it without stopping the source. If the denizens looked like peaceful cute lil guys it'd be neeter to poke fun. It'd be fun to watch Fry and Bender take advantage of this. It'd end up looking like how people make fun of the queen's royal guard that dont move. They'll all provoke them to see if they really don't put up a fight. Maybe poke at them. Pick them up, steal their wallet. Then hold the wallet above their head and watch them try and jump up to it(possibly too mean for them, but stuff along those lines). Later Fry and Bender can go into a bar, get drunk, start talking all drunk like, then get into a bar fight amungst themselves. They'll hit each other then hit the lil cute alien things(like digimon or pokemon) in the cross fire, eventually they just are out of control, swinnging chairs at them,(the things go sailing across the room), breaking bottles over their head, pool sticks swung at them. After they finish, all the lil aliens will be all laying around bruised and beaten. Fry and Bender will walk out arms over each others shoulders or something, then maybe in their drunken haze, the see a holy land mark(could be anything that just tempts defacing, like target signs need to be paintballed, you know that kinda stuff) of the planet and go to deface it, and stuff happens. Like all the lil guys hold a peace rally, but bender and fry just push through, maybe one gets punted like a soccer ball. More stuff happens, the end.
Perhaps one day Fry gets lazy... It could happen! So he decides to clone himself to get work done easier. (shuttup about my originality already) Instead of getting more work done, all his clones act just like him, and laze around all day, when Leela tries to get them to work, they all complain at the same time with an errie stereo effect. Leela will be all suprised at all the extra Frys,"Which one of you is the real Fry?" They all point to the right one, and he raises his hand. She then slaps him,"What are you doing?" Fry,"Whats it look like I'm doing, I'm getting extra work done"(all the other Fry's are watching Tv, drinking beer or eating pizza.) Bender could be introduced even later. He'll be like,"Hey Fry, sup?" Fry clone1,"Just heading to get some dumb stuff leela told me to get done in the back of the ship" Bender,"Alright." Bender will pass other Fry's at dif places,"Hey Fry, sup?" Fry clone2,"Just heading to the front cleaning off the console for ship" Bender,"Alright" Blah more clones come past, Bender doesn't give it a second thought. Bender even talks to two clones at once without caring. Leela panics and goes to the professor,"Fry cloned himself blah blah blah." Professor says,"Oh thats no problem, I'll fix it." Leela, whole heartedly thanx the Prof. Later when the problem isn't solved, Leela comes back to the prof who is ready to pull a switch marked: airlock/ clone removal, and sitting in a glass bubble with one side being the side of the ship with two doors ready to be open is the squid making some comment about being sure if its ok, while the professor just nods evily yet pleasant. Leela stops them and explains no,"FRY is cloned" More stuff happens, the end.
Shades of Calvin & Hobbes.

IIRC, one of this season's episodes involves the Professor cloning himself.
Like Grosse said, it's like a Calvin & Hobbes bit.
Dr. Zoidberg is a lobster-like alien... not a squid.

Hmmm, maybe I should read Calvin and Hobbes. Many of my friends used to like it. Seems like a quality cartoon.
It's like "Pogo" meets "Krazy Kat" meets "Peanuts," which hopefully has confused you even more. Best strip of the 1990s, that.

That is so weird -- I was reading the C&H tenth anniversary book today, and in the introductory section Watterson explains that the three strips grosse cites were his main influences.
Also the storyline of Calvin duplicating himself is reprinted in that book (and in several other C&H volumes, for that matter). Do check it out.
You can see the influences of all three showing through. Calvin looks like Linus with a different hairdo, Hobbes looks like Tammany Tiger from "Pogo," and the backgrounds constantly remind me of something out of "Krazy Kat." Watterson learned from the greats, although he wasn't entirely original in his character design.
