Virtual Pets was a Japanese fad that hit America in 1997. Users would have a keychainn-size device which would contain a computer creature. The people who have virtual pets were to raise them the same way you raise a regular pet. The craze had a short period of popularity, thenquickly died down just before Pokemon hit America. However, one type of Virtual Pet device, Digimon, has found another way to gain success in the USA thanks to the Anime series that airs on Fox.
