There are good reasons for not posting graphics to non-binaries groups. Some people have slow connections and the graphics take up time and bandwidth. Some have news readers that are only designed to handle text and not graphics. Some have to pay by the byte received and your photos cost them money.

There aren't official rules; however, there are general practices of accepted courtesy. The vast majority of people who frequent non-binary groups get very annoyed when people post binaries (whether they're on or off-topic). A lot of people still use dialup for internet service and binaries take a while to load (this is pretty much the main reason why there are bin and non-bin NG's in the first place).
Those who do post binaries are typically met with a great deal of animosity and usually they're kill-filed so any future messages are ignored.
Not telling you or anyone else what you should and shouldn't do, just giving you the background. Do with it as you wish...
