Anyone here think Futurama would make a great video game. There's plenty of cool characters, and lots of possibilities for some nifty graphics. I personally think it could be the basis for a rockin' game. What are the odds.

A Futurama game would be nice, but look at the Simpsons wrestling game for the Playstation. What has wrestling got to do with the Simpsons? The perfect Simpsons or Futurama game would be something like Lucasarts' Monkey Island, kind of like a TV episode made into an adventure game. If they could get the real Futurama writers to write the story and dialouge I'm sure it would be a great game.
That would be perfect, wouldn't it? Although it should probably be closer to "Day of the Tentacle", "Sam and Max hit the road" or "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis". That is - so that you get to play several characters and possibly with some action/arcade elements.
I wonder if anybody made a Leela skin that could be patched on Lara Croft (they have roughly similar physiques) or anybody like that. I once saw some Futurama skins for The Sims.
You know I looked into it. It's next to impossible due to the fact that Tomb Raider uses one combined image for all the textures of a level and they are all tossed around in a mess so there's no easy way to pick apart the parts that are mapped to Lara. They aren't all next to each other or anything so you would need to know the coordinates of her textures or some kind of decompiling program. And none exist. And also because of this you would need to have the whole level on your Hard drive so it would access the new texture file instead of the one referenced by the files on the CD. It would be a lot of pain in the ass work. It's just not designed for that. Maybe just hope that they make a second Futurama game with a Rear 3rd person instead of a platform game. (Boring)
I would love to see a first-person shooter based on the show- much like the "online" game they played in "Bicyclops built for Two"
C'mon, who wouldn't love to kick the snot out of Bender, throw him into compactor, cut him into a slinky and dump him into a sewer?
In all seriousness, the odds of a Futurama game are quite good, especially if the show reaches it's 100 ep-milestone and becomes ripe for syndication. But at the pace the eps are being produced, another two years at least.
But the odds of a Futurama game being any *good* are pretty slim. A popular TV/Film license doesn't always guarantee a good game. Even the mega-licenses, SW and Trek have had some pretty shoddy games derived from them. We've seen many Simpsons games and the only one that was any good was Virtual Springfield (and it was barely a game at that)
I'm still hoping that whoever develops a Futurama game will be bigger fans of the show than we are.

We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those "Police Academy" movies? For fun? Well, I didn't hear anybody laughing! Did you? Except at that guy who made sound effects. Heh heh. Where was I? Oh yeah, stay out of my booze." --Homer S.
