I popped over to the planetexpress.dk site this evening, only to find this on the front page, dated 02/21/03:

"That's it.

Five minutes ago I recieved an e-mail from Keats McFarland & Wilson LLP, representing FOX. They kindly asked me to kill the site off immidiately. Well, not kill the site as such, but remove all covers, comics, images and what have you, which would leave us with a more or less empty site anyway. I might re-launch the site as a fan-art site sometime later on, as this is not yet prohibited by FOX, but let's see.

The kind lawyer ends his letter with the following words (quoted): "Your interest in "Futurama" is most appreciated. Fox will continue to do its best to bring you quality entertainment.".

Mother. Fuckers.

Is the site really located in .dk? Do they really have to listen to crap like this over there?

Well, can't really say about Denmark, but I know that over here (Belgium) hosting services aren't too keen on getting into trouble like this, so if a site they hosts gets complaints and they know about it, it's usually bye-bye.

A notable exception is xs4all.nl which seems to be prepared to fight for the freedom of their users and currently is engaged in several lawsuits about what their users have on their homepages.
