Hail Atlanta (tomorrow's episode)

Man I have lived here for five and a half years and I am still looking for that magician! I have not even seen Ted Turner! I wonder if he will be watching tomorrow. Who would have thunk that an episode mentioning him would later be played on a station once owned by him!

One of the things that I did not get about this episode was that the Atlanta they were showing was pre-Olympic. I dont know if the artists were working from a picture of an older skyline of the city or what, but there are some prominent buildings missing from the skyline of the city today.

Also, I would like to say that the city as a whole is not as bad as it is made to be in this episode. Ironically, the thing that most Atlantians are embarrassed about these days is that stigma of being a party city. Kinda like a 365 day a year Mardi Gras (or Freaknik, as it was called here).

Still a pretty cool episode.

What I thought was the coolest was when they went to Milwaukee in the love episode -- several prominant buildings were included accurately, including city hall and the First Wisconsin Building (forgot the new name).

If anyone cares, it looks like the headquarters for the candy hearts they visit is just about at the north end of the Summerfest grounds.

"Love and Rocket" was written by Dan Vebber, whose hometown is Milwaukee. He also wrote the underrated episode "Route of all Evil."

In all honesty, I have no idea why this episode is so ragged upon in this newsgroup. Maybe it's because I saw it a full year before it aired, but I think "Route of all Evil" has some great moments in it:

Herme's son resurrecting the immortal phrase "my Manwich!"

Cubert: "Instead of using brawns, we used our brains." Farnsworth: "I warned you not to use those!"

Hermes and Farnsworth saying, "Welcome to the world of business," then kicking the crap out of their sons' box.

The homages to both Paperboy and Star Wars.

Farnsworth blowing Cubert a kiss, "it's a cheek-seeker!"

And more.

I will admit that the brewing sub-plot was a little weak, but even that becomes funnier when you know that it's based on the fact that the Futurama writers brewed their own beer in their FOX offices.

Oh, I almost forgot. There are the speed traps, too. I think the Wisconsin quarter should have a picture of a cop with a radar gun standing next to a "Reduced Speed Ahead" sign.
