burns and smithers

I think they should sneak Burns and Smithers into the background of a future episode but have them as they are in the episode of the Simpsons where its the future and Smithers is a robot dog and Burns his only a head.

But the robot Smithers and Burns's head were in 10,000 AD; not 3000 AD.

This isn't Star Trek man. It's a friggin Groening cartoon. Nothing has to make sense, let alone fit perfectly into the Futurama setting.

I will agree that in a Groening series, the universe is a little more plastic. We know that Springfield is on the coast, next door to one of the tallest mountains in the world. I'm sure there is an episode that establishes that Springfield is hundreds of miles inland somewhere. The children aren't getting older. The place is timeless.

The bit with the cryo chamber survivng two alien invasions is necessary to give the scene that _Time Machine_ falvor.

On the other hand, in a series where half of the fun is in the details, like how the lander is whole because of the historical stickler's society, a certain degree of consistency is desirable. It is a bit confusing when it is implied that long dead presidents are living heads in jars when they died before cryo preservation would be possible.

I will give the series more time because it is new and will take some time to get used to, but I don't think I've seen anything in this series as funny as the Pick Your Own Cow Steakhouse in the recent Simpsons. It does seem to be getting better already now half the time isn't taken up with introducing characters. The Simpsons episode would have been seriously hampered if we didn't already know about the attitudes of the characters. We just take it for granted that Homer thinks the place sounds like paradise because we know who Homer is.

That's right 10,000 AD. Guess what... 10,000 is AFTER 3000AD Therefore Burns & Smithers WOULD be there. (Albeit in a less advanced robotic form perhaps but still there)

FOX has owned all the simpsons characters from Day 1.. but i don't think they'd object to them being used in Futurama... since Groening continues to be their cash cow.
