Just Seen "Space Pilot 3000"

I've just seen "Space Pilot 3000". I must say that I had my doubts about it. But, I do have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Provided that it remains at this level, (I will wait to see the rest on Sky One), and introduces a larger range of equally good characters I think that it'll be really good. The part that I thought was the best was the "Apu-a-Like" Boss of Leela, very funny. I hope he reappears later in the series. A lot. The whole thing really showed promise. Must remember that The Simpsons started out at nowhere near the quality that it consistantly remains at nowerdays, and I think that the Futurama pilot, (Space Pilot 3000), was much better than The Simpsons pilot. This most definately bodes well for Futurama's future! Great stuff.

Well, I don't think we'll be seeing much more of Leela's boss. The show does take on a somewhat different tone by the end of the first season.

1, 2, 3: Character introduction, and a heavier satire of the future than in later episodes.

4, 5, 6: Each character "discovers" something about themselves, sorta, and all are more in the vein of pure adventure.

7, 8, 9: More narrative than before--the plots are distinctly developed.
