Hovercars??

In Anthology of Interest I, when colossal Bender spits oil off the overpass, why does it cause the hovercars to skid? Think about it.

because they can't hover over water and possibly not over oil.... haven't you seen BTTF II ?

Then Griff brought out the "Pitbull" and, well, you probably know everything else that happened in that movie. Hence, hoverwhatevers just don't work over liquids. Go figure.

Has it occurred to anyone that it was a joke, for exactly that reason, that oil shouldn't have any effect on a hover car. Perhaps it was a bit too subtle.

Well, here's my theory:

The hoverboards/cars work fine over both land and water. However, when they're cruising along the land and all of a sudden oil or some other liquid is suddenly below the vehicles, they lose their traction and start skidding. Yay

Not necessarily - without something for the hovering force to push against, they couldn't move.

Perhaps the oil on the windsheilds blocked the drivers' vision, causing them to screech to a halt, and then swerve to avoid hitting each other. Or maybe the oil damaged some of the inner workings of the cars.
