AAAAAHHH!!!

Fox cut out during the last few minutes of Futurama for f*cking "Election Alert!!!"

At the worst f*cking possible spot! I thought it was part of the show as a gag because it was timed along with a key part of the episode! This is ridiculous! Katherine Harris couldn't wait three freaking minutes to make whatever lame announcement she has to make!

Personally, I thought that the interruption would leave the East Coast audience into imagining what happened at the end (a la a rocket crashing towards Castle Forrester on a Season Nine episode of MST3K.) However, it would be nice if a West Coaster supplied the info on what happened at the end of the episode.

"Get a life?"

I could just as well read your News Radio quote and tell YOU to "get a life, it's just a TV show," and you would think I'm a jackass the way I think you're a jackass now for saying "get a life." If you're posting to a fan newsgroup, the phrase "get a life" means nothing.

In any case, there's no reason why the Harris announcement couldn't wait two more minutes till commercial. Does the fact that Bush "officially" wins Florida make any difference in my life if I find out two minutes sooner? If I cared that much, I would be watching CNN. Sure, if a news bulletin may save my life (weather warning, etc.), by all means, interrupt, but there's no reason why the network should cut in before commercial.

Ok here's a scenario for you. Let's assume I care about what's happening in my own country, and I don't have cable. How do you propose I get up to the minute information?

Except perhaps oh say the network's obligation to keep people informed of important information 24 hours a day as it happens? The world doesn't run only during commercial breaks arbitrarily assigned by each network independently of each other. There's a lot more important things going on in the world then a TV show.

Yeah but... Futurama is a forecast of things to come. Everything that happens in Futurama will happen later, so we must learn the valuable lessons it has to offer before we make more boneheaded mistakes. Note "A Head In The Polls." People didn't listen to the whole one-vote-makes-a-difference message. Now look at the mess we're in. If people just watched more Futurama and if Fox would stop giving it the shaft, the world would be a better place. Because of tonight's interruption, people on the East Coast will never know what to do if they encounter a bomb that's triggered by the word "ass" (and don't think that won't ever happen).

Watch FOX news at 9:00? It may not be up to the minute, but at least it is the most recent news they have available. Alternatively, you could listen to the radio.

This wasn't important information. They said Bush won Florida. Big deal. We knew that on election night.

Yes, and a bunch of folks sitting around signing papers doesn't appear to have any affect on who won the election. Bush won in the first place, so it didn't affect him. My point is that that news break-in established absolutely nothing about the result of the election, so why break into Futurama and whatever might have been on the other channels that I never watch. That news conference didn't make an iota of difference to Gore, as he is still fighting for recounts, and also didn't make any difference to Bush, since he already knows he won. Why waste peoples time showing a news break that isn't news?

You're wrong. Mike's .SIG quote is merely a reminder, for him if not for others, of a funny moment from a TV show he likes. Your ludicrous post blasting FOX for having the nerve to break away from a TV show for news that most certainly affects the entire country, if not most of the civilized world, deserved Mike's scorn.

I'm guessing she wasn't watching Futurama at the time.

Try turning this around. Does your watching a show make any difference in anyone's life compared to an announcement concerning the results of a US Presidential election? It's not even a blip on the radar.

On the contrary, there's every reason in the world. You remind me of the people 30 years ago who bitched that coverage of the moon landing interrupted their soap operas.

What's funny about all those panels is everything's a power switch, literally. Except for the flight controls. And no, I didn't hit the red button. And yes, there really is one. Our tour guide gave us a rundown on the "escape" system, and even kinda chuckled about it. I think he said something like if you've got enough control to be able to do this, you're not gonna be doing it. But oh well, I guess it sounds better to know they could get out if they really didn't need to.

The displays are monochrome yep, green. Atlantis has a "glass cockpit", and Columbia should be coming back in a few months with one as well. But most of it it is still really old technology. The computers still use tape, and had core memory up until about 5 years ago. Most of it was torn apart when we got our tour, so we could see behind where they put the lockers at the front of the mid-deck were to where they keep the avionics. It's like bookshelves of stuff even the guy on watch said probably belonged in a museum. <g> And yep, those are still the same old computers as always. Just think...I've touched a couple of them. *sigh* They're really only used for flight control, all the payloads and stuff are run off of laptops.

I have to take a look on Nasa.gov and see that. I remember when the Beech Starship came out some folks at nasa were drooling and day dreaming about a full glass cockpit in Popular Science. But I didn't hear much more about it and didn't know when they were finally going to be able to install it.

But wouldn't you feel much more comfortable with Fully debugged Assembly code instead of Microsoft Shuttle 2000? Even still they should get a fully integrated and triple G&N backed up, Complete computer system for G&N, and Payload in there. It would probably weigh less then the current system and cause much less hassle from not having to chase down badly velcroed lap tops.

Neither. There's a panel at the top of the cockpit that blows out, and a pole they stick out for ya to slide across, far enough away from the vehicle to survive (as opposed to whacking against the side on your way down). Like I said, if you've got enough control over the vehicle to utilize the escape method, you won't need to use it. I really think it's because such a system might actually have given the Challenger bunch a chance. I've read accounts there were some indications they'd been trying to get out on the way down.

But minutes before his meeting he realized what he was about to do and created OFF out of the ther for the pitch. That's why their all named after members of his family. They were the first names that came to his mind.

His hand's are tied and they have him by the balls. There's no way he can retaliate to anything FOX does to him or his shows.

He is? Oh shit. Collinsworth can suck my dick tho'. (Seriously. I probably wouldn't feel the slighest hint of homophobis either. She's a babe.) Bradshaw I hate on principle, since he played for the Steelers. Saw his ass lose once I did. Haha. And that other asshole has hosted a lamest wanna be funniest home video show. Fuck him. Can you tell I'm still pissed? Be honest. I feel like flaming anything that doesn't love Futurama from the bottom of its heart.

And don't you *ever* fucking sleep?

Im mildly getting that impression.

I love Futurama (Not in that weird way Leela Lover Matt does though;) And it's just bullshit what FOX is doing to it.

I work late shift so I tend to sleep mostly in the daytime. Except when I have things to do then I sleep exclusively in the morning. But I just posted some really incoherent stuff at Flightsim.com im talking stuff that makes Denis Miller make sense by comparison. so I'm thinking sleep may be a good Idea soon.
