A quick calculation shows that half of the surface area of Mars (the size of the Wong ranch) is indeed 17.9 billion acres, as stated by Leo in 'Where the Buggalo Roam'.

The sun is so far away that its rays are effectively parallel. I imagine the line would be pretty sharp.

O.K., I've been saving this. In the episode where Bender and Flexo first meet, they have a big laugh over the fact that their serial numbers can be expressed as the sum of two cubes. Flexo's was correct (I think the cubes were 119/120 or 120/121) but Bender's wasn't. Maybe there was a typo in the script.

(Well...Hipparcos modified that slightly.)
Of course, being an O or B star, its lifetime is too short for King Lur and his people to have developed there, but the eighth planet from the star would get about the same light as Earth.
