I liked the first skit where you had to pick out the transvestite boy from a lineup of young girls in pretty frilly dresses. There was something vaguely disturbing about the whole concept in a vague way, though.
Banzai in general sort of reminds me of that Simpsons episode that parodied Japanese game shows. Like they reverse-engineered the satire, which the Japs seem capable of doing.
Anyhow, it was sort of fun to watch and it was somewhat like actually watching Japanese t.v. without having to go to Japan. Next episode I'm going to move my television into the closet then sit on the floor in there with some ramen and saki, and pretend I'm in Japan. (For dessert, a $200 cubical watermelon that accesses the internet via an implanted nanochip, of course.)

I think you might be right, i'm getting the impression it's new to you lot but it was on in britain around a year ago, suggesting it's originally from the uk. I'm pretty sure it's not japanese as it's too spoof-like and if I remember correctly some people complained it was mocking japanese culture a while back.

I just watched it for the first time yesterday, and I kind of liked it, in a weird way. It's ridiculous enough to be passable, but it doesn't belong between "Futurama" and "The Simpsons." It's more of a Saturday evening thing, instead of "COPS."
