Well, I've visited this newsgroup, the simpsons newsgroup, and the futurama newsgroups and everyone has said that every season is worse then the previous season, etc. why the hell do shows get worse every season? I just don't understand it!

I don't know about "Futurama", but I hear that "Simpsons" fans are much harder on their show than are the people here. We have our fair share of detractors who are of course entitled to their opinion, but many people here are enjoying the current episodes, and we say so.

futurama fans aren't complaining because the show is still the same as it was two years ago, and simpsons fans are complaining more and more every day god damn it.

..so are the "Futurama" fans complaining because every season is worse than the previous season or not?
Indeed, the situation has become so bad that the "Simpsons" writers have taken to sniping at their internet fan base - the best example being the episode "The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show". Thank goodness that many of the correspondents to this newsgroup are enjoying the current season.

nah, but once they notice a dip in the quality of the show, they complain about how every season has been worse then the season that came before it.

People tend to want a show to stay the same as when they first watched it. That's one factor. All shows change over time. Equally, though, shows do get tapped out, when the writers run out of fresh ideas for the characters, or they pick a direction that closes off too many possibilities. On some shows, after a few years the problem is sometimes that the original creators of the show and the original writing team are no longer involved, so the show drifts away from what made it good in the first place.

If shows get worse every season because they run out of ideas, then why would it be a bad thing if the creators bring in fresh writers?

my point exactly! I understand the complaining about the simpsons, but futurama and friends? I just don't get it. but it seems most people start hating shows during the seventh season. It seems that the jokes and writing go downhill every season after that!
