WEEK 11

JOEY IMPROVES SLIGHTLY BUT REMAINS BELOW 12 MILLION VIEWERS, AS CSI'S HUNDREDTH EPISODE TAKES OVER BY INCREDIBLY TOPPING 31 MILLION TO LEAD CBS TO ANOTHER EASY THURSDAY NIGHT WIN IN THE THIRD WEEK OF NOVEMBER SWEEPS

November 18, 2004: Fast National Ratings from Nielsen Media Research

After ten new episodes, Joey appears to have settled into a steady ratings level, representing viewership from about eight percent of television households. (By comparison, this is less than half the average Friends ratings level over its ten very successful seasons.) Kicking off the third week of November sweeps, Joey pulled a preliminary estimate of an 8.0 rating and a 13 share on Thursday night, slightly better than last week's 7.7/12. Still, with an estimate of 11.9 million viewers, Joey ranked seventh for the night, as shown by the preliminary ratings.

Thanks to the amazing strength of more than 31 million viewers for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's hundredth episode, CBS continued to dominate with a 14.7/23 average, well ahead of NBC's second-place 10.3/16. As of last week, Joey ranks eighteenth in the season-to-date ratings with a 9.0/15 average. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation has a stranglehold on the number-one spot with an 18.0/27, while Joey is the number-three sitcom behind Everybody Loves Raymond and Two and a Half Men. For the first time in over six years (not including coverage of the Olympic Games), NBC will not air its regular programming to begin its Thursday night lineup next week, as an hour-long new episode of Will & Grace will replace Joey and start Thanksgiving primetime for the network.

Any idea what the ratings were for the first 10 episodes of _Friends_?

Why in the world would that make any difference? Friends really did not start to pick up in the ratings until the reruns of the first season. Why would that be a question to ask about Joey though. Fact is that people are just not attracted to the show. I feel sorry for NBC. They are possibly the least respected network on TV right now. It's amazing the turn around that ABC has had this season

The Secret Service are the same bunch of Cro-Magnums that put on rubber gloves to search gay members of Congress visiting the President.

Desperate Housewives is the ONLY hit ABC has had this season as far as new shows go. My Wife & Kids is mediocre, not that funny even with Damon Wayans. And the show with Jim Belushi isn't that great, either. It seems that both these shows try TOO hard to be funny. Even without the viewer pulling power of Friends and Frasier, NBC still has many great shows to fall back on. I can't talk about CBS because I don't watch anything on CBS. ~~~ Kathy
