Chandler's wearing glasses ....

I don't know who know's or not, and even though it's an old episode, but just in case......

So they showed "The One with Phoebe's Cookies" (703, I think) in which Chandler get glasses (which no one realizes he never wore). Anyway, did/does Matthew Perry (the person) have to start wearing glasses recently or was that something that they just wrote into the story and had nothing to do with the real world? Just curious, since 'Chandler' now has to wear glasses even though Matthew might not need them.

As a stage actor, and a person with very bad eyesight, I can tell you that it isn't necessary to wear glasses during a performance. So, either they did it for his convenience, or they thought it might be a nice look for him. Perhaps they felt he needed to look more mature.

IMHO, they just have him wearing glasses for that episode, so they can perform the scenes involving Chandler and Ross's father and go along with that storyling.
