INTERRACIAL ROMANCE: Friends has tapped former Talk Soup host Aisha Tyler to play a professor of paleontology who becomes involved in a love triangle with Ross (David Schwimmer) and Joey (Matt LeBlanc). According to Variety, her multi-episode story arc kicks off April 24 � just in time for May sweeps! What a coincidence!

Ummm can we say deja vu.... Dropping the paleontology bit weren't Ross & Joey in a love or rather lust w/ a purpose with a girl who was moving in accross the street from the coffee shop in a pervious season?
Is it that bad among the writers? Are they that tired & tapped out of ideas that they are recycling old ones? I think its great that they are adding some color to the show but geesh shake up that noggin a bit & get some new material. Maybe they wanted to develop that story more & never felt they got the chance so they are making a crack at it again. Personally I would like to see then NOT feuding over the same girl. When have they ever been interested in the same girl that was not of the darker persuasion. Not to mention you have to be semi intelligent to be a paleontologist & they have been working Joey up to be a doofus in idiots clothing. What would a she see in him other than the physical make up that would make him compatable with her. Ross on the other hand has a lot in common & the writers have finally shed the I am a looser attitude they had placed on him for so long. I would like to see them strengthen his character & do the will they or wont they hook up stuff again between he & Rachel causing them to end up in the last season. But thats just me.... or is it?
I still haven't figured out why they haven't put Joey & Pheobe together they have droped hints since the 1st season but never went anywhere with it. Who better to hook him up with? Granted I liked Pheobe w/ her latest relationship but he didn't want to ever get married & she did. This could be a good chance for some story writing w/ Joey there to comfort Phoebe & *I can't remember his name* Mike? Regreting losing her but also to scared to give in to the idea of marriage. Now there is a potential for a love triangle i'd like to see. Its certianly more realistic than what they are trying to come up w/ the paleontolgist. Just hook her up w/ Ross.... Maybe have Joey come along later & causing a stir because the Paleontologist finds him attractive pysically & this makes Ross uneasy eventualy dumping her because of it. That I could see working but I am sorry I just don't buy her falling in love w/ Joey. He is more of a fun date as opposed to a long term serious partner. Joey would date anything that walks (unless her name is Janice) if just for one night but he cares a lot for his friends & I just don't see him consiously putting his friendship at risk for the sake of a girl.
I love this show but I can now understand why M.A.Y. quit when they did. The writing started to fizzle & they wanted out before their writers deflated. There are some GREAT writers on this show but apparently they are burnt out. They need to go away for a few days to re-energize. Go observe life a bit get inspired. I'd love to see Friends go out with a bang not a pop.

But there was the time Joey was involved with someone, an actress?, and Chandler was smitten. If I remember, Chandler got her in the end, at least till it was time to move on.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ross and Joey had also lusted after the same women before.
And of course, there have been various levels of a triangle with Ross and Rachel, and the third person of the week.

as far as Phoebe goes i think they should somehow bring the Russian guy back for good.
