Watched an old rerun tonight on FOX....Monica hires Joey just so she can fire him to earn the respect of her employees. Ross has 2 girlfriends, one in Poughkeepsie, one "up-town".

Ross takes the train to Poughkeepsie to see the girl and to break it off with her, but he falls asleep and sleeps through the stop, ending up in Montreal.

The girl beside him invites him for coffee. Ross says "You live in Montreal?" She says "No, but it's only a 2 hour ferry ride to Nova Scotia."

LMAO at that. There is a WHOLE province between Quebec and Nova Scotia, and NO WAY IN HELL to get there by ferry. Now he could drive about 11 hours or so to Saint John New Brunswick and catch the ferry there to Nova Scotia...about 2 1/2 hour ferry ride. Or he could drive to Bar Harbour Maine from New York and take the 6 hour ferry ride from there to Yarmouth Nova Scotia. But no way is he getting from Montreal to Nova Sctoia in two hours, even if he flies there.

why would she lie about *how long* it takes her to get home? It's more likely she would just lie about *where* she lives? Or do mean that she lied about where she lives and therefore didn't know how long it took to get to Nova Scotia? To me, it sounds more like one of the many sloppy mistakes the writers make because they can't be bothered to look things up. I don't think the writers meant for her to lie...

That's nice Tennant, but 1) You didn't answer my question (why would she lie about how long it takes her to get home) and 2) she could have just said "I live in Nova Scotia" fullstop. Why on earth does she need to *explain* how it takes her to get home?? The fact that she said how long it took there was not a lie to simplify a long explanation, in fact it wasn't a lie at all, it was sloppy writing.

I noticed that when the episode frist aired. And I'm IN Nova Scotia. A ferry ride all the way would take her up the St. Lawrence, around the Gaspe penninsula, down the Northumberland Straight and then finally to Nova Scotia. Only that's a part of Nova Scotia with no major population centers at that!
