A bunch of Greek muses incarnate themselves. One of these muses, played by Newton-John, inspires a guy, played by Kelly, to build a roller rink with big band/disco fusion music. The scene the three friends catch on television is near the end of the movie where the big disco/big band finale takes place at the newly opened roller rink.

I think the movie pretty much flopped because it was just too "out there" for the average movie-goer. Plus the sudden death of disco caused it to be shelved quickly.
