Taped the syndicated version (ack! pooey!) of TOW The Fake Monica (118) the other day.
Is it just me, or does the girls' (Monica and Rachel) living room look _much_ brighter/whiter in that ep? I have TOW All the Poker (121) right before it on the same tape, and after rewinding and comparing, I can't really tell a big difference in furnishings, but for some reason the room just looks much...brighter.
Has anyone else noticed this and is there any explanation (other than I am hallucinating more than usual)?
You got the episode numbers the wrong way round, but anyway I've had a look, (unfortunately they're on opposite sides of the same disc), and I'm afraid I can't really see any difference in the brightness. Was there one scene in particular where you noticed this?
Or should I be saying "Halloo!" for our friends on the other side of the pond? (The differences in slang between British English and American English are an endless source of fascination for me.)

After reading your post yesterday, I meant to do another viewing to nail down which scene, but unfortunately did not get the time to do so. If I recall, there was a scene in 121 (TOW The Evil Monica) when all or most of the gang are seated in C&R's living in the daytime, and it just looked really white/much brighter than normal to me. It may simply have been the fact that fewer things were draped on the furniture or simply that I am seeing things. :-)
Not a big deal at all, but for some reason it stuck out to me and I wondered if anyone else had the same impression. It seems, once again, I am alone in my unique perspective. ;-)
No, we don't say Halloo. Maybe Hallo or Hullo, but usually Hello, or Hi, Hiya, Hey, Hey Up, Ey Up, or even Ey Up Our Kid... (and more)...
I've dug the tape out to look at that, and it seems quite normal. Maybe you're just reacting to the opening scenes being set at night, then the daytime scene is brighter. Look at Scene 2 where Monica tells Rachel about art supplies. She turns on a lamp, and the set brightens.
I didnt notice, but the lighting could have been brighter, or darker in the one with all the poker because usually when y ou play poker the room is darkened slightly for that kind of effect. Or maybe the color of the walls?
Yep, DVD is wonderful. Though I must point out the the picture quality of the Friends DVDs is only good compared with tape, compared with what DVD can deliver, it's not that great. Best picture quality we have is on Walking With Dinosaurs, direct digital transfer in anamorphic 16:9.
