Well, this is sorta Friends related so I thought I would let you all know that David Arquette is the new World Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Champion. I guess he won it tonight. He has been appearing on their tv shows lately to promote Ready to Rumble(good luck). From what I read, fans in attendance weren't too pleased about him winning a title because they started throwing trash at him in the ring.
Jay- who's admitting that he is a big wrestling fan. Not so much the actual wrestling, but the industry itself. It is truly fascinating to know all the inner workings of it and it does have many things in common with the tv business, but that's a total other topic. Why do I feel the need to explain myself?????
Nah he isn't. It's true he was on Nitro on Monday night and yes he did wrestle in a match which was linked to the WCW Heavyweight Championship. However the match between himself and one of WCW new chiefs Eric Bischoff was to see if David's mate DDP would get a shot at a cage match with the champion Jarrett. Arquette won the match and DDP went onto win the belt later on in Nitro.
Actually, yes he is the champion. They taped their Wednesday night show last night in Syracuse, NY and he won the championship then. I read a spoiler for it so that's how I found out. It will be televised tonight on TBS. It was some kind of weird stipulation match that he won. It was kind of a bogus finish(you're kidding!!) and the decision will probably be reversed next week.

David Arquette shocked the wrestling world by capturing the WCW World Heavyweight Championship last night in Syracuse, NY in a taping for WCW Thunder, which airs tonight April 26 on TBS Superstation at 9:00 p.m. (ET).
Arquette captured the title by pinning Eric Bischoff in a tag team match including a special stipulation that the pin fall winner would be the new WCW champion. Participants in the wild bout were the leader of WCW's New Blood, Jeff Jarrett, and Arquette's partner Diamond Dallas Page, the former champion.
Most recently David Arquette starred in the Warner Bros. wrestling movie Ready To Rumble, which currently is in theaters nationwide. The popular actor is also the pitchman for 1-800-CALL-ATT and has shined in the highly successful Scream movie trilogy, along with wife Courtney Cox-Arquette.
"This is exciting, but what am I going to do now," said David Arquette. "I'm an actor not a wrestler and these guys are very big."

My interest in Friends has been declining, sad to say. Tonight, I taped Friends and watched Smackdown. I wish I was more interested than I am right now. It just hasn't been the same lately.

One of the great things about wrestling is that the creative team behind the storylines always ultimately gives the fans what they want. Wrestling *really* is all about it's fans which is more than I can say for another television program.
Are you getting "Backlash" this Sunday? Do you think The Rock is finally going to do it? For some reason I think he's going to get screwed *again*.
Very true. Wrestling fans truly *do* pay the salaries of the wrestlers with gate receipts at events and merchandise sales. The fans decide who gets "pushed" with their reactions to what is happening. A guy like Stone Cold starts as a bad guy, but eventually the fans cheered his bad actions so they madee him a good guy. The fans dictate what they'll see and how much of it they'll see. Another great thing is that the creative people read what internet fans think and take our advice many times.
No, I don't get many ppv's(being a poor college student). The last one I got was last year's Summerslam because our governor, Jesse "The Body" Ventura was the special guest referee. I usually keep up to date with the results of ppv's on the web. I really don't know what is gonna happen this Sunday. I would think Rock would get the title, but he's gonna be gone to film The Mummy 2 in June, so who knows. I don't expect Stone Cold to turn on him though.
