ok.. at the end of 605 Ross gets Rachel to sign the divorce papers.. but (correct me if I am wrong) how can we take for granted that he actually sent them off ?? here's an idea that maybe other people have said now remember I am a C+M fan to the core.. but this will please the R+R fans (who.. let's face it) have suffered bitterly..... they were tempted by the idea of their fave couple being together, and then tortuously ripped part again !! REMEMBER.. FOR ME.. C+M 4EVER.. but R+R deserves some happiness !! *lol*

Here's a theory.. now I don't care about Ross and Rachel but perhaps Ross never sent those divorce papers off, and puts it off, but at the end he realises he better send them off, but he and Rachel get back together 9I don.t know how.).... but the season finale could be.. do they manage to stop the papers going through to stop their divorce ??

the thing is.. I ask myself.. does Rachel really deserve Ross, I mean she has been soo selfish.. mind you they have all been selfish...even though I love 'em all !!

I just feel that Ross needs something good to go on in his poor little life.... "sniff" *sniff*..... he's suffered soo much !!

Well, how about the fact that technically they'd have to be seperated for six months before filing for divorce anyway? I think most people here know that I certainly don't tend to take anything with this show as a given until I see actual confirmation from the characters who are directly involved and disregard any comments from other characters (particularly from characters who are trying to get back at their big brothers in front of their parents), but I can think of three possibilities where they wouldn't be divorced immediately:

1. Ross decided to hold off on sending off the papers until he knew exactly where he and Rachel stood (unlikely, though); 2. He had to wait six months before he could even take them back to the lawyer's, so he's still got them; 3. He took them back to the lawyer's, who's holding them for six months before filing them (the most likely explanation).

All of this is a moot point though, seeing as the only mention made of it since TOW Joey's Porche is by a super-competitive Monica who's looking to make her big brother look even worse than herself in front of their parents.

Rachel said she wanted copies divorce paper filed. In New York State you can file for divorce right after your marriage. The divorce process take about 6 month. Which in those six months either party can cancel the Divorce. In New York State divorce is a unamious agreement. Only other way to get a divorce is if you partner betrays of lie before the wedding.

I don't think this can be quite right. Otherwise abandoned spouses could not get divorced, and I'm sure there are provisions for that. I know in the early 1980s it *used* to be a one-year separation OR you filed papers alleging a fault on one person's side (adultery, cruelty, etc.).

it would be pushing to the storlyline way too far.... I mean come on... the marriage already carried on for longer than it should have.. Rachel thought being married to Ross was terrible.. why would she continue it ??

That would be a very interesting plot twist that would show that the writers didn't waste a great storyline, but I don't really see it happening. =( More than the divorce, I would have liked for the writers to comment more on how Ross and Rachel woke up together and it was very quickly forgotten.

I think it was Tina who said that more than being selfish, Rachel is just afraid. I agree with that, especially since I think her character is the one whose done the most growing up through the series.

You know, I was thinking about that awhile ago, and if the writers wanted a Ross/Rachel cliffhanger for season 6, they could always say that Rachel is pregnant with Ross' kid as a result of that night... (but then again, it wouldn't work out, since 9 months real life time had passed after the time that scene aired..)
