The syndicated eps are edited!

I recently realized that the WB edits the reruns of Friends. In particular, I have noticed this three times with Ross.

1. Back in season 4, Ross thinks he is going to have a romantic evening with an attractive blonde woman, but it turns out she thought he was going to babysit her son at her apartment. They cut out where he says to the kids "anyone want to make some long distance calls?"

2. In the episode where they think Phoebe is a porn star, Joey and Ross enter the apartment after having been to an adult book store. They cut out where Ross frantically explains why he was in the bookstore when Joey entered.

3. In the episode where Elizabeth (a college student) asks Ross out, they cut out where she pretends to not want to go out with him because he already gave her a good grade, and then she says "just kidding."

Does anybody else know what I'm talking about?

Yes, I've noticed too. More examples:

1) In the one with Ross's Wedding, when Pheobe finallys reaches Joey in London, she tells him that Rachel is coming to London to ruin the wedding. They cut out the next part where Joey was suppose to take down the message on a notepad and says to himself, "Do Something".

2) In the one Where Chandler Can't Cry. When Jill came to Central Perk to meet Ross for a date and Rachel criticizes her dress, saying that it's slutty. Then Jill says "It's yours". Rachel then responded with "Well, yeah, I'm a slut." They cut out Jill's next line, which was "So am I."

In Israel they also edit the episodes, so I don't even know what I'm missing ... This part, for example, I never knew existed:

and also this part in TO that could've been, where Rachel meets Ross and she tells him he should return the kid's money, the part where he returns it is missing.

I downloaded the Vegas double episodes from the internet, so I know about a lot more stuff that were cut:

1) Many of the Ross-Rachel parts were missing, especially the one after Ross saw Rachel dancing naked, and came in her appartment and made a fool of himself, the last part were he almost leaves and Rachel makes fun of him was missing.

2) when Phoebe tells r&r they're going to Vegas, the part where Chandler caughs the word "geek" or something was missing

Also stuff that are cut from the episodes shown on StarWorld:

1) When Ross buys Rachel the slinky, the part were he sings "every knows it's ..." is missing

2) in TOW Heckles dies, when Monica gives Rachel the girly clock, the part where Rachel plays with the clock and the girl moves is missing

Annoying ....... there are probably lots more parts that were missing, that I don't even know about .....

syndicated television shows are always edited because stations are allowed to show more commercials in those non peak hours so something always has to go.

It's a pretty shabby thing to do to good art but that's the way it is

I agree. I am so glad my local Canadian Station plays the reruns unedited. Although the picture quality on regular cable is shabby compared to my digital satellite (where I can watch the syndie US versions edited and compare), I'm not complaining as long as I get to record these episodes in its entirety. They are showing the 6th season in my area as well, and I did notice the scenes cut in the US versions after watching my versions. It really kills the show when they do that. Oh well. That's the power of TV and Video. It's probably Warner Bros.' way of hoping you'll spend hundreds of dollars to buy their friends collections when they become available.

Funny, I was gonna post the same thing about the Canadian syndies in my area, and how glad I am that they aren't edited. By any chance do you watch these Canadian syndies on City Tv?????

No, acutally. The station is called A-channel in Alberta. But I've heard of CityTV, and CityTV reminds me of Global network or formally ITV in Edmonton. ITV never edits their syndie viewings either.

Not so true. Friends is the only syndicated show I know of today that has been edited for more adverts, besides Married with Children in which the introductory of the show is only split between commercials.
