Joey time slot change?

I'm seeing NBC promos for Thursday night comedies and Joey wasn't in it. Seems to be replaced by that 'Earl' show and something else. Is it being pulled or changing time slots?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Why is Thursday the prime night for sitcoms? I know NBC has a history of successful Thursday night blocks, but is there any evidence to suggest that people watch more TV on Thursdays than other nights? That said, A friday or Saturday night time slot would be death for Joey, just like UPN did with Enterprise (and NBC did with the original Star Trek for that matter)

Thursday night for NBC has been the prime ratings night since the 80's when Cheers led the line-up. Historically, any show that followed the 8:00 p.m. lead-off show was generally a hit, i.e. "Frasier", "Will & "Grace." NBC and Warner Bros. need to wake up and smell the coffee (so to speak), and if they have any hopes and plans of reviving "Joey", they are going to HAVE TO bring some of the "Friends" characters on for guest appearances and SOON! Why do you always blame Jennifer Aniston for the "iffy" reunion movie and guest appearances on "Joey"? The other five cast members of "Friends" do have minds of their own and can make their own decision whether or not they will do a guest shot on "Joey." Don't turn it around and put the blame on Jennifer. It's still just hearsay that she even refused the possibility of a guest appearance on "Joey."

The logical guest appearances would be by Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox Arquette. Story-wise, I can't seen the characters of Ross, Rachel, Phoebe or Mike showing up on "Joey"s doorstep. "Chandler and Monica" would. I could see Monica attending a chef's convention in Los Angeles or Chandler attending some kind of meeting or convention about advertising, or just simply on vacation and bringing the twins out to visit their Uncle Joey. ~~~ Kathy

I'm don't 'always blame' Jennifer. I can see her actions in a logical manner. Jennifer is very ambitious, and wants to be a 'movie star'. Matthew has a career on the slide, as his movie track record post Friends is hardly golden. He plays some supporting roles, but like the others can't hold a movie, as like the others he's not an A list actor/actress and without Courteney it'll look rather odd, as here we'd have Joey and Chandler doing the same old routine, with no sign of the others, sure Chandler could mention Monica, but that's it.

Lisa was going to do a sitcom like Friends, but it sucked and bombed BIG time in America, so she also has gone back to doing B list movies that like Courtneys are instantly forgotten till they appear in your local Blockbusters, and she IS getting rather old to be playing Phoebe again.

David has tried to do stage work over here but that never really happened, as he isn't really a stage actor, plus like the other five, he's gone back to making B list movies, and is working on a movie next year and as a voice actor on Madagascar 2 in 2008.

In short the other five cast members careers post Friends have more or less sucked, as their movies have been B list, most have been bad, some have been truly awful, think 3000 miles from Graceland, and just about all have gone straight to DVD/Video without even seeing the inside of a movie theater, and those that did make it into a movie theater have bombed at the box office, none of the five is able to hold up a movie as the principal cast member, as none are that good at acting. Their top period were as the cast of Friends, all are now long past there peak, all are now to dam old to go back to those roles, as they were in them far to long, and only Jennifer's career is still climbing, as she has more screen presence, and the camera likes her more.

That's why Joey is doomed, and the friends movie is just a mirage. ;-)

I'm not going to put any money on "Joey" getting cancelled, or whatever, right away. There's an awful lot invested in this sitcom for TPTB to pull the plug on it right now. If they move it to another time slot on Thursday, it could be bad, but not fatal. If they move it to another night, however, that would certainly signal the end of "Joey."

The basic premise of "Joey" is he has started a new life on the west coast. Rachel is the woman that broke his heart in NYC and wants to leave that behind, thus, Jennifer's guest appearance on "Joey" wouldn't be a good idea. MP and CCA would both do a guest appearance. DS and LK, maybe, maybe not. I could see either of them popping in on Joey. My money is still on MP and CCA making the first guest appearances.

However, I am very surprised TPTB have not tried harder to get a couple of the former "Friends" cast to make an guest appearance to get the ratings for "Joey" going again. MLB is still very, very good as Joey, though. The only other cast member on "Joey" that has alot of charisma and comedic talent is Jennifer Coolidge. I think that was a good move for the producers of "Joey" to bring her along from her guest spot on "Friends" and give her a role on "Joey." The rest of the cast -- blah, blah, and boring.

I am impressed at the quality of guest stars that have shown up on "Joey", though. I was real surprised to see Adam Goldburg (Eddie - 2.17 TOW Eddie Moves In) on "Joey" a couple of weeks ago. Eva Longoria was on last week. Overall, I think the intentions are good, but they're going about it in the wrong direction.

I'm rooting for "Joey" to stay alive on Thursday nights. There's work to be done, however, behind the scenes to breathe some life into the show. ~~~ Kathy

Only *five* of them? I can't name any of JA's post-Friends movies either - about all I've heard about her in the past year is her divorce...

What about the 'Good Girl', which started the whole ball moving, and signaled the beginning of the end of her marriage.

I guess it becomes 'traditional', rather like Friday night here when Friends & Frasier were at their peak.

Only cross-overs from Friends could have a chance of saving it now.
