Schwimmer to star in "Chipmunks"

David Schwimmer has signed to play the role of Dave Seville in a new live-action "Alvin and the Chipmunks" movie.
"Friends" star David Schwimmer will play the role of Dave Seville, the manager and foster father to Alvin, Simon, and Theodore in Universal's upcoming movie, "My Life with the Chipmunks: The Dave Seville Story". The movie starts in 1958 with struggling songwriter Seville finding three orphaned Chipmunks which were irradiated by A-Bomb testing. Dave raises the Chipmunks, who grow up and learn to sing! Dave puts the band together and breaks into the bigtime with the hit song "Witchdoctor".
The story follows their rise to fame through the Golden Age of Rock and Roll, to their downfall in the late 60's. Part "Ninja Turtles" and part "Spinal Tap", the Chipmunks will meet and interact with many rock stars and celebrities of the era, pushing the "Forest Gump" technology to the limit.
The Chipmunks themselves will be created by computer graphics much like the infamous Jar-Jar Binks of Star Wars. Look for a Christmas 2003 release.
