It appears to be a poster for a French mini-series of some kind -- can anyone translate the text on the posters?
The two posters are indeed quite different, as the first one deals with a movie, and the second one with a novel. (however, the movie is an adaptation from the novel...)
As for the translations:
first one: The mysteries of New York
Great American Novel/Movie adapted by Pierre Decourcelle
Published by "LE MATIN" ("the morning", which used to be a national french newspaper) who chose all theaters showing movies by Path� Fr�res (=Path� Brothers, a movie company) to project the movie adapted from this novel, while in the same time it will be published in LE MATIN (as a mini-series certainly)
second one:
The mysteries of New York
Great american movie by Pierre Decourcelle
published by LE PETIT PROVENCAL (a regional french newspaper, from the south east, near Marseille), starting November the tenth
The only thing I don't get is wether the book is a transation from an american novel, or a french novel in the american style...

In fact, at the beginning was a French man (Charles Path�). He went to USA in 1915 and found the idea to publish a serial in newspapers in the same time it was on screen (a long film cut in short weekly sequences about 30 minutes each : "Perils of Paulines", "The Exploits", "The Romance of Elaine"). It was a great success in USA. When the films came on screen in Europa (and in France), the main title of all the films was "Les Myst�res de New York" (The mysteries of New York). So, the poster is the one of the French version of an American production by a French man. Vive La Fayette!
