R & R are not taking the Apt because why would they need to. Neither of them need the extra room. Its not like they have kids or anything... oh wait.....

As for the newborns being home within hours from the hosp. I don't know how they did it being at the hospital (unless it was discovered they didn't have ins.) But my niece was born at a birthing center & they were home less than 2 hours after she was introduced to the world.

Unless it's different in the States than here in Canada, hospitals do not let babies go home until they have shown that they are eating and "going to the bathroom" normally. No hospital I know of would allow them to go after only 2 hours.

Yeah, the apartment is now going to be leased to some rich people who will pay about $5500 per month in rent, or buy it for $3 million. The babies were treated a bit unceremoniously--Erica didn't go through any crisis of changing her mind, Monica and Chandler were there during the delivery wearing no scrubs, and it all happened in time for them to come back right before Rachel leaves for the airport. Yeah, it was poorly directed and crammed together, and the only thing that was vintage Friends was Phoebe's cab charging down the highway to get Ross to the airport.

I've been through the delivery of my 2 children and have never worn scrubs, so what's the problem here?

I guess they are not taking the apartment because they then would be Joey's neighbours, and since Joey's character will continue in an spin-off, Ross and Rachel needs to be out of his immediate range.

do we forget that monica was living in the apartment illegally. it was her grandmothers apartment and if the owner had found out that the grand mother was no longer living they could have been evicted.

And the same threat hangs over the heads of a zillion people who live in NYC. At least they'd be keeping it in the family. The super already knew Monica was living there under her grandma's lease, and he let it slide. If I had connections to an apartment like that (located at the corner of Bedford and Grove, no less!) I'd live there as long as I possibly could, too.
