Does it really get that cold on the East coast?
Marcel
*screaming* Does it really get that cold on the East Coast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OF course it does!!! In the middle of the winter it can drop below 0 F which is about -18 C and that's without the wind chill!!!
Do you even know where Connecticut is?
Plus in Maine it gets even colder!
~Act (who's thinking about living to LA just for the warm winters but yet you can still snowboard)

0 F? Is that all? I've known -20 F in Canada. Ok...we lived in a valley and didn't get much wind, but still....
<thinking> A couple of miles south of Hawaii? :-)
I know it can get extremely cold in certain states, but it was an inncoent question. Call it interest. I'll be in Charlotte NC the first week of October, so that's why I was wondering.
Indoor or outdoor?
Marcel
Sorry I just hate the cold!
is that all?? I said without the wind chill now and it does get lower sometimes.. depends on the winter.
Right next to NY. You should know from the show.
nah doesnt get too cold in NC. But you definitly need long pants and some sweaters(Sweat shirts) because it has snowed before there so it could get below freezing
outdoor in the mountains.
~Act
Activia wrote in message ...
So do I, but I love Canadian winters. Call me nostalgic.
So basically it would be a good idea to stay indoors and drink hot chocolate, coffee or whiskey.
Ok Act.....I was being sarcastic. You should be able to recognize that by now. Of course I know where CT is. I do have an atlas and a very detailed map of the positions of the various states. I have to know these things, because I'm already planning a trip that takes place roughly a year and a half from now. I'm thinking of taking a roadtrip which will take me through 10-12 states. But most of them are on the west side of the US and California is one of them. I'm going there just to visit the San Diego Zoo. It's the worlds best know zoo and it will only take me 150 miles off of my original course, so it's worth doing and I have a feeling it's worth seeing.
My friend told me to bring shorts, because the temperature has been going up each year. I'll pack both shorts and pants. I'll need sweaters anyway, because around the Canadian Rockies it can get very cold in October.
In California?? Where?

yea I dont mind the weather just as long as it's not 10 days in a row the same dreary weather with no sun, just 100% humidity, *not kidding* the air had so much water in it it was constantly misting and cloudy.
I can deal with the snow, as long as it doesn't snow for 10 days in a row, I can deal with the rain as long as it doesnt rain 10 days in a row, I can deal with the heat..well forever, I can deal with the cold as long as I have some place warm to go to.

It's to do with where you wear a sword if you are righthandd which the larger percentage of people are (especially in the past where lefthandednss was "taught out" of most peple). Two horserideers meeting might want to pass left to left since theirswords arms are then meeting. if they passed on the right they would hve to get off their horses to fight (look at knights jousting in tourneys - movie ref The Cable Guy if you've never seen any more authentic recretions). Although a sword is carried on the left its' drawn on the right, a gun is on the right and you still draw wiht your right arm and shoot with it so again meeting right arm to right arm makes more sense.
on a frivolous note it also means you can briefly shake hands with peopl eyou pass... useful for politicians and film stars.

yes Napoleon. All the "conquered" countries switchedalong wtih France, all the British Empire/Commonwelth countries are/were lefties. Some of them have swaped since for politicla reasons.

So you tell them Japan drives on the left like we do, and they just won't have it!

So your telling me that cars are cheaper in Holland than in Brittain? That's strange.....I always thought cars were overpriced here. Especially Ford. I bought a 1990 Escort XR3i five years ago for 5300. It's a nice car and really fast for its model, but not worth that kind of money.

By a huge amount.
A 20,000 car for 12,000 after VAT would not be unusual.
There's been a big stink about it, and the UK Government has instructed car manufacturers to remove the differential - but they just squealed a lot, then took the odd 1,000 off, pretended they'd solved the problem, waited for the media to lose interest, then put the odd 2,000 back on, so the problem is now worse than ever.

That's a pretty large difference in price.
That's the car-business for ya! Whenever someone feels you're getting the better side of the deal, they go and change the rules so you get the short end of the stick. Then the dealers fight back and play their own game until they make the kind of money they thought of making in the first place.
