I have never written to this group before, but I was wondering if anyone knew Janice's last name. I thought about it the other day and couldn't figure it out.

There's no official surname for Janice, but we have come up with Janice Mattress King, or something like that

I watch a million other shows than friends... well maybe not a million... The Simpsons, Survivor, Big Brother occasionally, and who wants to be a millionaire? to name a few.

They're going to air the reruns at 5 pm. That's what I meant about airing the episodes in ridiculous time slots. Some of us don't have the chance to watch TV in the middle of the afternoon. But the reason why they're doing this is that they want to please all the youngsters watching. And they'll probably air reruns (season 6) on Tuesdays until season 7 starts in March.

I was a fan of R+R in the beginning, but I prefer C+M at the moment. I have to admit that I've already seen all of the episodes (that have aired in the USA) of season 7, and I think the characters have improved. Ross and Phoebe have had some good stories, C+M had a wonderful story in 706, and I loved Rachel and Joey in e.g. 703 and 710. I think you can say that season 7 has showed us some unusual couples that we have rarely seen before. All R+R fans and those who liked R+R in the past won't be too happy with 701, though.

I know, when you first start enjoying a series, it's hard to stop... At least that's the case for me.. :)

Yeah, a Norwegian ng about Friends would have been great fun. I've been thinking about that too. The problem is though, that I'm afraid it would end up just as bad as the newsgroup they have on TV2's website. Have you seen it? It's awful! Every other post is about "ooooh, Joey is so cute" and "what couple do you prefer". They don't discuss things the way we do here.

But everybody is translating Gary's surname in the WRONG DIRECTION. If it was Gary Madrasskonge then there is no point in saying that Mattress King sounds like a Norwegian word, they'd have been Mattress Kings in Norway.

The idea is that it's a Norwegian name that resembles Mattressking but means something totally different. Then Gary's grandparents emigrate to America. People hear the name & laugh, and Gary's granddad gets annoyed, but Gary's dad says that if that's what people are gonna think then maybe he should go into the bedding business and call himself Mattress King.

Exactly. I've never claimed that Gary has Norwegian roots, though. (It would be cool, of course.) People did this a lot when they went to the USA. Hmmm... <ponders on that one for a couple of minutes> There is one verb - "trasking". It means "trudging". (It's not in the dictionary, but you can put the verb in a special tense and make the word.) I can't really come up with a Norwegian word that is closer to "mattress king" than that one.
