Funniest...

Hey I am trying to get my cousin who is convinced that he doesn't like friends to watch it. I told him I would leave him alone about it if he would watch 2 episodes. Now I need help. What do you people think are the funniets episodes?

That's actually more difficult that I originally thought because most of my favorites probably wouldn't be very funny to a first time viewer. As a result, I think something from one of the early seasons might be best for the first viewing. Then, once he has a feel for the characters, the second viewing could be from a slightly later seasons. Now to think of the right combination. . .

This has had me wondering for about the last 3 hours... Any Suggestions? David said Season 1 for a starter, but which episode? Is it just me or is Heckles a very funny character?

I love Heckles! I really miss some of the characters from the earlier seasons. I think overall it used to be more funny.

Well, I've thought about it, but I have three.

TOW The Boobies (Season 1, ep 13) It's just a lot of fun.

TOW All The Poker (Season 1, ep 18) Nothing like a good gender-related conflict.

TOW The Football (Season 3, ep 9) Not a personal favorite, but as I recall there was a survey that showed this was near the top of the list for many people.

This is why I have a problem with critics dismissing a sitcom on the basis of a couple of episodes. My local critic, Tom Shales of The Washington Post, panned Friends when it first came out. Well, yes. He hadn't had time to figure the show out. I have no idea whether he eventually watched more episodes and saw the light.

That question has been asked and answered several times in here. Also, you should select episodes that don't spoil the experience, what is really hard to do, because if you show him a season 2/3 episode, he'll know that R&R get together when watching season 1, but if you show him an episode from a later season it'll make him less enjoy 2/3, because he knows that they'll get separated again, while M&C are constantly together from somewhere in season 5. I'd suggest TOW Ross's Wedding, though (more for the drama than the fun aspect). Probably a season 1 episode or TOW the Flashbacks or TOW All the Thanksgivings spoil the least.
