One More Season

I just heard on the radio this morning (James St. James) that Friends has signed on to do one more season but with more time off for the cast, which I think means fewer episodes?

I think that means that you will have episodes where one or more characters won't be in it at all. Think Mulder on last years X Files.

That may not be that bad. I am just wanting Friends to come back next season so that I can see Rachel as a mother! Wasn't David Schwimmer the one that didn't want to come back for another season? It won't be so bad if they come back without Ross. I can live with that!!!!

Anyway, I can't see the show missing any of the cast. It would be awful.

I think the opinions of the cast have been greatly over-exaggerated. For instance all of these sources and articles seem to claim that a couple characters are saying this is the last season and they don't want to do the show any more, but whenever we see an on-camera interview, they never say anything like that. I saw an interview on ET or Access Hollywood with David Schwimmer a month or so ago, and when they asked him if this was the last season he said "I honestly have know idea and we haven't decided anything yet, but when we do, I'll be sure to let you know." I actually heard that they hadn't signed another season, but that the producers were going to use this tactic (one more season, less episodes overall) to entice them to sign (since more money doesn't seem that it would work). Nellie

Man it is sad that the writers have to alter things just to get the cast to stay. If it isn't in their heart anymore then let them go especially with Kudrow and Schwimmer.

Since when do we care whether the cast is happy about staying for more seasons?? Honestly, who thinks about whether any of the cast members are happy when they are doing an episode? Do we see their unhappiness?? NO!

Yeah!!! Look at how much money they are getting per episode. Besides Jennifer Aniston is my favorite and I know that she is the one friend that really wanted to continue the show. So she will be happy and I will be happy!!!!

I think if it is to continue they should keep the original format ie. all 6 in each show. Otherwise change it completely to make a spin-off series with stories based around the situations of certain characters or of smaller groups of characters. That might work and could be more realistic because they could explore more real-life issues better from an individuals view-point.

Oh, we sure do see their attitude. We see it when they phone it in - and that happened a lot in season six.

I don't know what a "James St. James" is (beyond the obvious - DJ on a local radio station) - you might want to take note of the fact that this is an international newsgroup and nobody outside your city (certainly noone in some country other than Canada) is going to have a single clue who that is - but if I've learned nothing else in my 6 years in this newsgroup, I've learned to take all such reports as the above with more than a grain of salt. I'm not saying *you* are making it up, I'm saying this "James St. James" may well be making it up, or may well be relying on some other particularly dubious source.
