new contract

I know this has been goin on for ages but my friends told me today that he heard on radio 1 that they had signed new contracts worth 5 million each and that channel 4(uk) had over bid sky (uk again) for the rights so they would be showin it a bout 4 months after nbc insteaqd of 9 months) anyone got a clue on this? owen p.s. has 613 been shown on fox tv yet?

Is that definite, Tennant? I was under the impression they were toying with the idea, as well as the idea of selling the rights back to Sky, but my friend couldn't find anything out about either. But if they've confirmed it in a statement or something, then I guess I need to start begging The Parents for E4. :)

Know that feeling, we're not getting OnDigital for the flat, it's a waste of money and Sky Digital is too inflexible, we would have to pay for the five months we aren't in the flat. Anyway don't you get your Friends posted from the US? :)

But as you say, C4 *could* sell the rights back to Sky, especially if they felt that E4 & Sky were complementary channels. Or maybe C4 will refuse, but then OnDigital goes bust before January. And curiously, nobody will say for *definite* which digital system E4 is going to be on, if not both.

Well, E4 would seem to be the wisest option, seeing as they would be charging suscriptions, but in that they'd have to be careful not to make it too 'specialist'; FilmFour is popular, but it only really appeals to people who have a real interest in 'alternative' or low-budget films, and as a result E4 would have to make sure there was a lot more than just Friends and ER to get people watching on there. However, selling the rights means not as many people watching E4. To be honest, I think I'd go with E4, mainly for more control - but as for money, I don't know, because the two main options could cancel each other out.
