I missed some episodes this past season and I'm curious as to what exactly happened with Rachel & Tag.
According to some posts on here, it sounds like he turned out to be a real asshole. The last episode I saw which involved him was when him & Rachel were fooling around the office and there was something involving a joke evaluation or something that Rachel wrote about him.
So what happened with him?
In TOW they all turned 30, she dumped him at her birthday party because he was 6 years her junior, and it wasn't working for her. He was sad. That was 3 months prior to the pregnancy.... perfect timing, doncha think? IMO He never behaved badly, I think people just wanted Ross and Rachel back together and couldn't accept anyone else in Rachel's life.

I doubt their split had anything to do with what fans wanted. The writers have turned a deaf ear to R & R fans for years. Anyway, aside from the the Ross and Rachel element, Tag seemed intensely boring and without much personality IMHO. Since he was only appearing a short time on the show, his personality just wasn't developed much.

Yeah, the episodes I saw with him, I was thinking the same thing. I thought he was boring with not much personality and didn't really see the connection between him and Rachel. It seemed more like meaningless office sex, which there's definitely nothing wrong with that. Especially when it involves a hottie like Rachel. :-)
And I seriously doubt he's the father of Rachel's baby (ooooops, should've put spoiler space I guess, ohhh well, sue me:-). Although I guess it's possible, but I would think that 3 months is a little too long for Rachel to be JUST finding out that she's pregnant. And plus I would think that if the writers were planning on Tag being the father, they would have developed him a little more and made his character stand out just a little bit. But ya never know...
One theory I haven't seen anyone mention is that it is very possible that Tag IS the father and Rachel was in denial of her pregnancy for 3 months. I do know of a few women who got pregnant and refused to believe it until the signs were just too strong (one woman I know of denied her pregnancy for like 4 or 5 months, and during that time she drank and smoked pot and cigarettes. And because of this, her child has alcohol deficiency syndrome among other things. Poor kid.) So it is possible that Tag knocked her up and she denied it until it was too obvious.
It's also possible for the writers to make Tag the father but also keep him as a minor character on the show. Look at Carol, Ross's ex. She's the mother of his son, yet you don't really see that much of her (she's mentioned in the show alot more than she's shown). I know, it would suck if this is the scenario, but it's really the only clear possibility unless she had sex with another guy more recently that was never shown or mentioned on the show (which is probably more likely the situation).

What, like a Joanie Loves Chachi version of Ross & Rachel? Ummmm, no I hope not, that would be very dumb. Besides, spinoffs for the most part never work out. "Frasier" is the only spinoff I can think of offhand that achieved success. Well, I guess there was "Laverne & Shirley" which was considered a spinoff of "Happy Days", but it really wasn't. They already had plans for "Laverne & Shirley" and they used "Happy Days" as a launching pad. This is the case of other shows that are considered spinoffs, but they really only used a popular show to introduce characters.
"The Simpsons" may count since it was a cartoon short on "The Tracy Ullman Show" in the late 80's before it branched off into its own show.

He really wasn't. A lot of people just didn't like him because he wasn't Ross and because of his age. Anyway, in TOW they all turn 30, which was on last week in the US, Rachel realized that she really needed to start thinking about settling down and having a family and she just couldn't do that with Tag so they broke up. No mention of him after that, we have no idea if he still works for her.

In 720 "TOW Rachel's Big Kiss", we learnt that Rachel had been promoted yet again, she is now the Divisional Head of Men's Sportswear, so she moved away from Tag. Not the first time that a manager has been kicked upstairs to avoid an embarrassing situation for the company.
If anything else has happened to Rachel or Tag in 721-724, then I don't know about it, so please say nothing without a spoiler warning.

I think it's a combination of not knowing and not caring. I know, for one, that before coming to this newsgroup I didn't realize that the rest of the world didn't get Friends episodes at the same time we did. And then it's kinda annoying to have to go through all the trouble of putting up spoiler space when you just want to get your point out there. I do however take the time to put the spoiler space in, cause I don't want to ruin it for anyone. But we aren't selfish, but like I said, half don't know, the other half don't care.

I forgot that the "Tag" episodes weren't all that long ago. For some reason they seem like they were a long time ago to me. You know Tennant, I don't think it was fair to single out my post. I really do try to use spoiler space, but I am a human being and occasionaly make a mistake. No one else used any space so I figured that it was safe to talk about. I'm not sure of the rest of the world schedule of Friends and I was pretty sure you had mentioned that the UK already saw TOW they all turn 30. Also, a lot of us don't know the episodes by number, I know I just know them by name.

According to the log there have since been some other replies, but they have all been killed as well, (except for Marita Bakken & CandiGrrl), so there must be a bigger spoiler than Tag lurking in the thread somewhere.
Less than a million people in the UK have seen anything of the new season, since for the vast majority of us it does not start until July 13th.

See..I wasn't aware of that because those of you in the UK who frequent the newsgroup were talking about them so I think most of us assumed that the UK had seen most of season 7 and were just catching up. Sorry that most haven't seen it yet, must have been a very long wait since the season 6 finale. I think interest would either wane in the show or someone would be desperate and try other ways to find out what happened (like spoilers).

The UK has seen season 7....the people who have cable and digital channel E4 is showing it. Last week they screened TOW Rachel's Big Kiss so we are trailing behind a little. The reguar terrestrial channel Ch4 starts to screen it usually a few weeks after it's finished on cable.
Look around the newsgroup smart guy! There are hundreds of messages and subject lines that have spoiler space! But I guess if 1 or 2 people decide not to, that means that all Americans are "mind-boggingly selfish." Yeah, that makes alot of sense.
Oh, and another thing, look at the subject line of this post! "What happened with Tag?" I think that has "Spoiler" written all over it! As someone else in the newsgroup pointed out, if you're gonna come to this newsgroup then it's YOUR responsibility to tiptoe around the messages to avoid reading anything you don't want to. You know what you've seen and what you haven't.
And the fact that you were pissed off about this thread containing spoilers is so ridiculous! Anyone with half a brain would read the subject line and say "I don't want to know what happened with Tag because I haven't seen the episodes yet." You're an idiot, and I guess since you're from the UK, that automatically means that everyone from the UK is an idiot. Makes sense!
