Primetime Metered Market Ratings: NBC Doesn't Own Thursday Anymore

-Ratings Breakdown: With a first place time period finish from 8:30-10 p.m., CBS outdelivered the once unstoppable NBC by a full rating point (or seven percent). Survivor opened the night with an overall second place 12.9/19 followed by the rock-solid CSI (#1 for the night: 19.5/28) and freshman hit Without a Trace (#2: 11.3/17). Although NBC's ER continues to win the 10 p.m. hour, its 15.6/24 is not what it used to be.
Earlier in the evening, NBC's Friends notched a first place 15.9/23 at 8 p.m. followed by number two time period finishes for Scrubs (12.6/18), Will & Grace (11.9/17) and Good Morning, Miami (9.6/14). Retention for Scrubs out of Friends and Good Morning, Miami out of Will & Grace was 79 percent and 81 percent, respectively.
In the battle of the leftovers, The 34th Annual NAACP Awards on Fox scored a 4.5/ 6 from 8-10 p.m., one-tenth of a rating point ahead of UPN's WWE Smackdown! (4.4/ 6).
On ABC, week three of Profiles From the Front Line (#4: 4.3/ 6 at 8 p.m.) remains barely visible with lead-out Are You Hot? The Search For America's Sexiest People anything but with a series low 4.3/ 6. Yes, recently introduced reality programming clearly indicates we've seen enough. As for Primetime Thursday (#3: 6.6/10), there remains no competing with ER and Without a Trace.
Slim pickings was the clearly observation at the WB with a repeat of Sabrina at a 2.2/ 3 (sixth in its time period) followed by also sixth place finishes for Family Affair (2.3/ 3) and a one-hour repeat of The Jamie Kennedy Experiment (2.5/ 4). For more on Jamie Kennedy, see TV Tidbits below.
