what's thay chat ? and who is Kristen ? how would she know any news and making them sound official ?

Coffee Mughowie

Kristin, who until last year was known as Wanda, is a presenter from the E! tv channel. (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not from the US) Her site can be found here: http://www.eonline.com/Gossip/Kristin/

She usually has some inside scoops/gossip about what's to happen on tv shows, including Friends. Sometimes she's right, sometimes she's not. (And sometimes she steals news from Friends related message boards... ;-) )

The way I see it, we're about at the same point where we ended last season. The big question marks surrounding Rachel and Joey, and Ross standing in the shadows. Chandler and Monica still baby-less. Stuff like that... It's almost as if season 9 didn't happen... (wishful thinking?)

KathyCoffee Mug

Considering everything (good and bad) that's happened between Ross and Rachel over the last 9 years, it would be completely unbelievable for them to end up together at the end of season 10. Is Rachel supposed to just forget everything Ross did to her? Sleeping with the copy girl? Lying about the annulment? Hiding messages from her along with a host of other things along the way?? I can't see Rachel completely caving in over this just because they have a baby. ~~~ Kathy

Rachel did some pretty nasty stuff to Ross(granted nothing is as bad as cheating)too. Like she knew that it was her fault they got married when they were drunk in Vegas and let Ross carry the burden of it until the very last second. She convinced his girlfriend Bonnie to shave her head out of jealousy, she selfishly told Ross not to see anyone because she was pregnant, but then after Emma was born, decided on her own that she'll move on with ther life without bothering to inform Ross who's life was still on hold. She was the main reason his relationships with Mona, Emily and Bonnie went down the toilet. They have both done nasty things to each other so it's not so much a matter of Rachel "caving" in, but both of them.

KathyVanessa

She didn't "let" Ross carry the burden of the annulment until the last minute. He LIED to her about starting the procedure when she asked him. He said he would take care of everything and he lied to her. He tricked her into moving in with him and then when his lawyer called and asked if Ross and his wife were trying to make it work because he'd not heard back from him on it.

Bonnie was bald once and apparently liked it alot, so shaving her head wasn't that horrible forher. She seemed to like it better than having hair.

Unless you've experienced pregnancy hormones, you will never understand how Rachel was feeling during those last couple of months. Rachel thought about giving the relationship another chance when she went into labor and even after Emma was born, but after Janice talked to her at the hospital and then Ross came in and told Rachel he'd been talking to a nurse, she realized that Ross wasn't in the same place that she was. Granted, she accepted Joey's "proposal" as sort of a rebound reaction, but at that point, she was only thinking about her and Emma's future and she didn't want to raise Emma without a full-time father, which is completely understandable. Even when asked, Ross wasn't planning to propose. He even said he was just going to ask Rachel if she wanted to "start things up again."

The main reason his relationship with Mona went in the toilet is because ROSS LIED AGAIN -- only this time he lied to Mona. Ross has never taken full responsibility for anything bad he's ever done. He always wants to blame it on someone else trying to "trick" him into doing things, even though he "tricked" Rachel into moving in with him, which was a horrible mistake.

Yes, both Ross and Rachel have done their fair share of mistake making, but Rachel never LIED to Ross about anything. Lying is Ross's M.O. ~~~ Kathy

just a FEW!??!?!!?

i'd hate to burst your bubble, but it's QUITE a bit more than just a "few." But it's ok, you're allowed to wish--after all, there's no way the writers are gonna end the show w/ joey and rachel. This isnt Jerry Springer you know. But again, you're allowed some wishful thinking.

"Kathy" wrote in message news:...

Kathyhotmamasita

Then you explain to me how the writers are gonna "pull off" a magic trick and convince the audience that Rachel is going to have some kind of epiphany about Ross and fall into his arms and marry him at the end of season 10??? There's been too much BS between R&R from day one until now to ever be able to write it all over again convincingly. It sounds like wishful thinking on YOUR part and on the part of the dozen or so true-blue R&R fans that they'll end up together happily ever after. Just ain't gonna happen that way. The writers will make sure that ALL the characters are HAPPY when the show ends and it won't be with R&R together. Weigh the pros and cons of their roller coaster relationship since the first season. There's never been a time frame when they were together when Ross didn't screw it up somehow. ~~~ Kathy

"hotmamasita" wrote in message news:[email]...

hotmamasitaKathy

again...a dozen!??!?! It's a LOT more than that. I can't speak for the other die-hard ross and rachel fans, but in my opiniong, since season 5, the writers have steadily, increasingly ruined Ross' character. The whininng, and emotional problems and now his apparent lack of care for joey's feelings in regards to the situation w/ charlie make me dislike ross a little bit. But my hope is that the writers won't just throw r & r in a relationship together. I'd like to see them realize that they still love each other, and also getting back together w/ rachel be motivation for ross to become the ross we once knew--caring, sweet and selfless. I'm reminded of TOW the poker. That last hand b/w ross and rachel, obviously ross let rachel win. He was so genuinly happy to see her happy that he lied about his hand, which obviously better than her hand. THAT is the ross i'd like to see end up w/ rachel. And hopefully, getting back together w/ her will be motivation enough. I'd like to see ross do something incredibly selfless for rachel in a serious situation, like (this would never happen)ross and rachel being in a hostage situation and the suspect holding rachel w/ a gun to her head, and ross telling the bad guy to take him instead. Obviously that won't happen, but that TYPE of selflessness. And if they don't end up together, i don't want rachel to end up w/ joey b/c i think it's almost a cop out for the writers.... since the very first episode of the show, the writers built up and built up and built up the ross/rachel thing. And then to have them put rachel with joey seems very....what's the word? I dont know how to explain it. Very cheap, last minute attempt to put rachel and joey in a relationship.

"Kathy" wrote in message news:...

Rachel and Joey isn't going to last. For one thing, the network very much wants a spin-off of Joey's character. Why would Friends end that show with Joey and Rachel together if JA's not going to be going to the new show with him (which she isn't doing)? R/J is just another bump in the inevitable R/R ending.

Donna My opinions might have changed, but not the fact that I am right.

KathyJLplsSS

Actually, I read that JA isn't completely against a season 11 OR being part of a spin-off. So, a Joey & Rachel pairing isn't totally out of the question.

As far as Ross goes -- the writers are going to have to do a major boatload of damage control to revert Ross to the "old Ross" that you seem to think was so sweet and caring. If you remember, during season 2 when R&R first started dating and was only into it about 6 wks, Ross had already had their children named and decided where they were going to live!!! No wonder he's been divorced three times!!! He should've stuck with Mona. ~~~ Kathy

ideally for ross and rachel to get back together, they should both take responsiblity for their break up. Rachel should tell him that they indeed WERE on a break and it's her fault and ross should tell her that no they weren't on a break and it's his fault.

She didn't admit it until Ross remembered what happened and she couldn't deny it, and *after* she got all angry at Ross for not taking care of it. Ross should have told her to kiss his butt but he didn't. Yes, Ross should have told her do it instead of lying to her. The way Ross was written in this storyline was beyond stupid. Did he not think that Rachel would eventually find out the truth? And I remember her making him take all the blame when they faced the judge that time saying he was a druggie and gay porn user. She said horrible things-to a *judge*, no less. Yuck. Sometimes I hate the writers.

hotmamasitaKathy

rachel admitting that it was her idea for getting married is completely irrelevant. And ross not getting the annulment is irrelevent as well. And by the way, one could interpret him not getting the anulment as a subconscious relove for rachel. And just for the record, he did apologize for it. I said i want them BOTH to take reponsibilty for their break up at the same time. As of now, neither has. ross said we were on a break and no doubt regrets sleeping w/ the copy girl, but he never gave in and said we weren't on a break. Nor has rachel given in either.

"Kathy" wrote in message news:...

Lauriehotmamasita

Why would Ross say that when they *were* on a break? ;)

Not that it's any kind of an excuse for the copy girl incident, however. So his claim that they "were on a break" isn't going to cut it.

Kathyhotmamasita

You're referring to an incident that happened many years ago. There have been many more incidents since then (and worse, mind you) that Rachel really shouldn't forgive him for -- i.e. - the annulment. Ross PROMISED Rachel that he would handle everything -- she wouldn't have to do anything, but he LIED TO HER YET AGAIN about it and then tricked her into moving in with him on the backlash of ANOTHER LIE about some friend of his apartment being available when Ross knew wasn't available at all. Phoebe hit it right on the head when she said Ross was going to have Rachel move in with him and then tell her they were still married and Ross -- in his little dreamland head -- thought Rachel would be just FINE with it and fall into his arms happy and content!!!

I've noticed that the die-hard R/R fans tend to love Ross and blame Rachel for the demise of their relationship. They seem to only like Rachel if she is interested in being with Ross, otherwise they bash her character.

I've also observed that most J/R fans (like myself) are Rachel fans, who want to see her with someone who brings out the best in her. Like Joey.

So:

R/R fan = Ross fans who only like Rachel when she benefits Ross

J/R fan = Rachel fans who want her to be with the right guy, whether it makes Ross happy or not.

That doesn't make us Ross haters. We could just as easily say that R/R fans are Rachel haters. They certainly blame Rachel for everything.

These are generalizations and do have exceptions.

Sorry Terri, but that is just so much rubbish! Are you even watching the same show, or making it all up from your imagination?

Rachel is much sweeter & happier with Joey - when she's with Ross she complains, she puts him down all the time, and can be a bitch.

There's a neat example in 918 "TOW the Lottery", when Rachel actually knew that Ross was right (which he was), and did not agree with Joey's suggestion (which was silly), but look at how she *reacts* to them...

RACHEL: You know, Ross, just keep making your jokes. How are you gonna feel if we actually do win?

ROSS: Uh, you're not gonna win.

RACHEL: Oh, I know, I know, the odds are against us, but somebody
has to win, and it could be us! And then how you gonna feel?
You know, we're gonna be all like (happy voice) "oh everybody,
let's take our helicopters up to the cape" and you're gonna be
all like (miserable voice) "oh, I can't guys, I'll meet you
guys up there, I gotta gas up the Hyundai".

ROSS: Okay, I've heard myself on tape and I sound nothing like that.

JOEY: Oo-ooh, I know! We should pool all the money and buy the Knicks!

RACHEL: I don't really care about the Knicks.

JOEY: Oh, you will when I pick you as starting forward.

RACHEL: (touched) You would do that? I never get picked!

What? This is the guy who has never supported her career - while Joey encouraged Rachel to quit being a waitress, and then he found her the first job she had in fashion, (nothing splendid but it was a start).

To give Ross his due, Rachel has not done much to support his career either, though she absolutely adores what Joey does for a living.

tennant, i couldn't disagree more! When ross and rachel were together, rachel was much sweeter. They were mushy, called each other honey and sweetie, etc... but in a much different sense than when the girls call all the boys sweetie. The example you gave from TOW the lottery doesn't show that rachel is sweeter and happier w/ joey! It mearly shows that rachel thought joey making her a starting player was sweet b/c no one ever picks her.

And honestly i don't really think your question of who is she happier w/ can be answered b/c she's never been in a relationship w/ joey. We can speculate all we want, but we have no idea. And who konws, if rachel were in a relationship w/ joey instead of ross, i'm sure the same thing would have happened. And(i don't think) we've ever seen joey in a real, long lasting relationship, so we have no idea if he would be jealous or demanding of time and attention, etc... So this question really can't be answered--we can only speculate, and of course people are going to have different opinions.

When R&R were together, Rachel was so naive and immature. Ross wanted to keep her that way. That's why he griped so much about her working. He saw he was losing his control and she was developing interests other than in him and he couldn't handle it. He was and still is very selfish. He doesn't want Rachel, but he doesn't want anyone else to have her, either. He didn't have enough balls to fight for her with Paolo, nor with Mark. By the time she started up with Tag, Ross was off into his own little thing. It was OK for Ross to have a girlfriend, but he freaked when he saw Rachel and Paul kissing. "it's weird for me!!!!" You brought this up before but I think you're way out in left field on this one. Remember, Ross stopped dating Rachel's sister at Rachel's request unlike Rachel who would not stop dating Paul even though Ross was uncomfortable with it. I do think you're just a Ross hater who sees everything he does is wrong. Rachel complained that it was weird for HER so why is Ross selfish when he complains it's weird for HIM?

And how can you not see that it's been Rachel who has pursued Ross almost every time he has tried to move on?

KathyLaurie

As much as Rachel wanted to tell Ross how she felt when he was about to marry Emily, she DID NOT DO IT!!! She saw that he was happy (or what Ross believes was happy) and she LET IT GO!!! She NEVER ONCE tried to come between Ross and Elizabeth, nor with Mona. Back in the bald Bonnie day, Rachel was still harboring feelings for Ross, but we all know what happened when that reconcilliation came about! Ross

happened

Ok.

You still avoid my point about Paul & Rachel's sister. And you name a couple of girlfriends that Rachel didn't interfere with. But with Mona, there were problems caused by Rachel (remember her lying to her Dad and him bursting into Ross's apartment ready to fight Ross in front of Mona? Then Ross had to do a lot of damage control after that mess).

And you bring up bald Bonnie. Rachel was totally sneaky in the way she got Bonnie to shave her head and then when Ross dropped Bonnie, Rachel broke up with him again. Remember that awful letter that she demanded he read all night? And then she rubbed salt into his wounds about him being a "cheater" while they were in bed, no less, until he could take no more. So Rachel's not all so sweet and innocent like you think she is.

And yes, Rachel didn't tell Ross about her feelings until Ross was struggling to save his marriage. Then when he got a divorce from Emily, Rachel immediately lost interest in him.

Even Monica noted her behavior when she said, "I love Ross! I hate Ross! I love Ross! I hate Ross!"

Ross has been guilty of stupidity, but Rachel has been malicious and selfish.

After all this time, has Ross even wanted Rachel (since the breakup after Bonnie)? The only hint he gave is when he didn't want an annulment. After that, he started to have feelings for her about the time of Emma's birth. Since then, nothing. (I mean he still loves her, but he chooses not to be with her). The pursuing has been from Rachel's side.

KathyLaurie

Sounds like you're a "Rachel hater"!!!

The Paul situation -- Paul WASN'T Ross's brother, NO RELATION!!! Why would Ross, even on a good day, have a problem with Rachel dating his GIRLFRIEND'S father??? Why? Because Ross STILL didn't want Rachel with anybody even though he had his little college tootsie! Thank goodness Rachel didn't give in to that crap and she kept on seeing Paul, only dumping him on HER terms -- not Ross's!

When Mr. Green burst into Ross's apartment, that was NOT Rachel's fault. She didn't hold a gun to his head and FORCE him to go there. Mr. Green went on his own accord. The problems created between Mona and Ross were created by ROSS! Moving Rachel into his apartment and then BLATANTLY LYING about it to Mona! Then, when Mona comes to his apartment on Valentine's night and sees Rachel there, Ross perpetuates the lie!!! How is that Rachel's fault? How did Rachel have any hand in that breakup?? It was Ross's LIE that broke them up. I don't know how you figure Ross did damage control. He's the one who caused the majority of the damage, anyway. He could never just BE HONEST with Mona and tell her anything. She always had to find out by accident (i.e. changing the locks on his door immediately after giving her a key!).

And I know that Julie hasn't been mentioned in all this, but to bring it up, Rachel DID NOT tell Ross how she felt until much, much later after he'd been seeing Julie and all that time, Ross didn't really want to be with Julie and that was fine. However, they did end up together, but without their share of problems. Six weeks into the "dating", he's telling her all about their future home and kids! Ross is "in love" with being married. But, at the hospital after Rachel had Emma, Ross wasn't going to propose to Rachel....he just wanted to see if she wanted to "start things up again." Kathy, i think i hate you. You really need to be a little less closed-minded and open your eyes. It's INCREDIBLY difficult to have an intelligent discussion about Ross and Rachel and Joey when you contribute. You're so pro Joey and rachel, that you fail to see things as they really are. I want ross and rachel together, and i'm able to reckognize faults and mistakes that they BOTH have--both ross and rachel. And i've even acknowledged that certain changes need to be made w/ ross. You however can only see ross' faults and mistakes.

As for your last post....despite what you think, ross is SCARED to be in a relationship w/ rachel (as he said) out of fear that they will break up again. He said this to phoebe. He said he couldn't do that to Emma. Having acknowledged and admitted that he still loved and wanted to be w/ rachel, he went to go ask her to start things up. Now, as joey and you have pointed out, she just had his baby and he's only asking her to start dating again??!?! I can't say that is the ideal suggestion for him to make, but again, he is scared of it not working out. He didn't ask her to marry him, b/c he didn't want to just all of a sudden jump back into a relationship with her w/out making sure it'll last, b/c he loves her and he WANTS it to last. You said he's in love w/ being married, but if he were, then why didn't he ask mona, or elizabeth and/or rachel to marry him.

And as far as your ridiculous claims about Ross planning out ross and rachel's lives and whre they'll live and their children's names, you're ridiculous. He was by no means planning out their lives and if you think that, then you really are a ross hater. He said himself, he was at work assembling bones and his mind wanders. He loved rachel so much and really thought that their relationship would work. So he ENVISIONED a life w/ her. This doesn't mean that he is controlling and that it's even going to pan out like that. It just means that his mind was wandering and his imagination was going, based on the fact that he truly loved rachel. AND, you failed to mention and reckognize, that after rachel asked him about it, it actually led to them telling each other that they loved each other, for the first time.

ok, that's all for now.

You think you hate me?? Bwahahahahaha!!! That's so ridiculous! You hate me because my opinion differs from yours??? How shallow! You need to re-read your own post! You say I cannot contribute to a R/R/J discussion because I'm so "pro" Rachel & Joey and so "anti" Rachel & Ross, but you are so pro Rachel & Ross and so anti Rachel & Joey that you cannot accept the fact that it just MAY end up with Rachel and Joey together in the end!!!!! You say I fail to see things as they really are??? How are things -- really? You want them together and you're able to "recognize" (note: no 'k') their faults. OK.....all those faults have been what's ruined their numerous attempts at a relationship in the past. Sure, Ross needs to desparately make some changes in his personality and how he looks at relationships, but you've got to remember -- this is ROSS. He's NEVER wrong in anything he does, says or how he lives....according to Ross, that is. If he can't even see his own faults, how can you expect him to change?? Sure, I can see Ross's faults and many, MANY mistakes. It's just too bad that he can't!!!

Yes, he may be scared to be in a relationship with Rachel, but that sure hasn't kept him from STILL trying to control her every move! He said it to Phoebe, but you notice that he didn't say it to Rachel? And, I thought the "start things up again" comment was totally unacceptable. Here they are, they've just had a child together, they've got a decade of history between them, but he can't muster up enough courage to propose to this woman that he's "supposedly" been in love with since the 9th grade??? If he's scared that it won't work out, then he needs to just let her go so she can make a life with somebody that ISN'T afraid it won't work out!!! Clearly, this person is JOEY!! No, he didn't ask Mona....he just got off on LYING to her and leading her on because he didn't have the balls to be honest with her about anything -- especially about he felt about her (or didn't feel, I guess). All Elizabeth was to Ross was an ego booster. Typical May-December relationship, just with younger participants!

Sure he planned out their lives! He even decided they'd live in Scarsdale because the taxes were lower!!! They'd only been dating six weeks, but he was already hearing wedding bells and --as Rachel said herself -- was only thinking about who's apartment they'd stay in next!!! She wasn't thinking about marriage, but he was because as you recall from the pilot episode, to quote Ross, "I just want to be married!" That's been his trademark ever since. ~~~ Kathy

Kathy, the i think i hate you comment was a joke. But the more you post, the more i think i possibly could. Your entire post just confirmed everything i said. And the fact that you commented on a typo of mine in the word recognize, just shows that your argument is so poor and flawed and that you're so immature that have to sink to the level of a 10 year old, pointing out a spelling error. It's diffucult for me to even respond to you, b/c i feel as though it is pointles. You say the SAME things over and over again, even when people have explained that you were wrong--You fail to open your mind. You said, among MANY other stupid and incorrect things, that i'm so anti joey and rachel that i cannot accept the fact that they may end up together in the end. But clearly you didn't read ANYTHING i said. B/c, while i would prefer rachel to be w/ ross, i NEVER said that it's impossible for rachel to end up w/ joey. I don't THINK they'll end up together, b/c i believe the writers are better than that and it would also change a lot of things in joey's spin off. But i absolutely never said that there is no chance in hell they'll end up together. That's the difference b/w you and I. I am open minded and accept the possibility of a joey rachel relationship even though i do not want it. There were just so many incorrect, immature and annoying things you said, that i'm not even going to address them all.

I point out a spelling error because that, among other grammatical errors in your posts, are very annoying to try and decipher. The fact that YOU are the one who is mule headed and can't accept the possibility of a Joey/Rachel union, you are the one who is immature. How can the things I've said be wrong? I've watched every episode many, many times (as I have them all 1-8 on video tape, plus season 9 on KaZaa), to the point I can pretty much quote verbatim what has been said. You give me ONE instance that I've mentioned that is incorrect, wrong -- whatever you want to call it. It's wrong in YOUR eyes because you can't stand for someone to disagree with what YOU want and what YOU believe should happen. That's what so damn immature. It's pretty darn clear why you luuuuvvv Ross so much -- you're just like him! You cannot stand to be wrong about anything!!! You are so far removed from open minded that it's just not even worth mentioning or dwelling on. Plus, it's "you and me" in that sentence, not 'you and I.'

i'm not commenting on anything in your post, because i think you may actually be mentally retarded or have some sort of mental handicap. I believe it's pointless to keep making the same points over and over again, which i have done in pretty much all my posts; it's wasted energy. The only thing i'll say is, you assume i'm a teenager or a young college student because you see my email address. But i guess your tiny little mind couldn't conceive of the possibility that i am a faculty/staff member of the university which employs an incredible amount of people. And as for your comment that you can quote episodes and you've seen them all a million times, do you think you're the only person who can do that? I would bet that more than half the people in this newsgroup can do that and have the episodes on tape. Perhaps you should re-read your posts and ask yourself again, who is being immature--you, who has nothing of substance to contribute and therefor rely on pointing out grammar/spelling mistakes, or me. Goodbye Kathy. Grow up. You may be pushing 50 (and i'm glad i still have a few years to go before i reach old age) but clearly you're an idiot. Do yourself (and the rest of the world) a favor and get checked out for alzheimers or dimentia. I missed work today for the funeral of a cousin who had alzheimers. I've quoted dialogue over and over again and the only thing you've done is tell me how you think I'm so "immature." Yes, I am almost 50, but you know what, little girl? There is NOTHING that you can do that will ever top anything that I've already experienced in my adult years. With age comes wisdom -- something that you clearly have no grasp of. Kathy, if you actually went to college, you'd know that a major university employs a lot more people than those who teach. There are secretaries, security personnel, Janitorial staff, and other jobs of this nature. I don't teach--never said that i did. And ONCE AGAIN you keep commenting on spelling and/or grammar errors of mine. So tell me AGAIN, who's the immature one? Everyone makes errors and typos when they're typing fast and while doing other other things. And let's face it, has it ever occured to you that i am just a bad speller. As most people know, spelling abilities has nothing to do with intelligence. Some of the brightest minds were bad spellers. I don't sit at my computer all day planning out and spell/grammar checking my posts. I post during lunch breaks and down time, and at night while i'm watching tv. One could point out several errors in everybody's posts, however, you, the all-knowing, omnipotent Kathy, feel it's necessary only to point out mine. And as far as the structure and compostition quality of my posts.....THIS IS A NEWSGROUP! What is wrong with you? I'm not writing an essay to be published. This is a newsgroup where fans of Friends come to discuss different aspects of the show, but you have taken this to whole new level. Every single one of your posts is regarding my intelligence or "smarts" as you so eloquently stated, but you've never met me (Thank g-d for that) and all you base your assumptions on are posts that i type in 3 minutes. Ridiculous. That's all i can say about you.

Regarding your other post: Yes, I have finished college -- twice. Chances are that you are not a secretary, because any secretary worth their salt can type with a semblance of typo-free product. I've not seen that from you. My guess is you are either on the cafeteria staff or the janitorial staff with access to somebodys computer there.

okay, this one's for both of you:

Trim your posts! The posts you're sending are about 20k+, yet the new content amounts to about 2-3k. Obviously you have to leave some quotes in, else the whole thing doesn't make sense, but still that would leave you with 5k at worst. You're generating a 300% overhead - PER POST!

This one's for Kathy: I only see your posts through replies by others, but there's a few things I'd like to say anyway. So you're close to 50? That comes as a surprise as your posts do display an incredible lack of maturity. I am not even talking about this thread specifically, it goes back to when you labelled me a little boy, insulted me for not being American and a bunch of other things. Your ignorant attitude when I asked you to respect standard usenet rules of behaviour such as bottom posting made you sound like someone who was 12 at best. If your actual age is 49 then I guess you've managed to keep young. If that's a good thing or not isn't really for me to judge, but at least as far as usenet goes you are quite an annoying individual, with your lack of respect for the etiquette around here and your constant name calling.

And finally, adding multiple exclamation marks to your sentences does not make them any more correct or wrong. It only makes you look daft

Not that I want to defend Kathy, or care either way about this, but you really shouldn't go on about someone's way of posting being immature and then abbreviate "because" to "b/c", which is text message style and not that welcome on Usenet. For some reason things ought to be spelled out around here (not this group specifically, but in general) - don't ask me why, but that's the way it is...

And just for good measure: I'm not trying to be patronizing, just saying... ;-)

of course that's true--it doesn't revolve around r/r. But i'm big on continuity. The R/R storyline has been one of, if not the most major story since day 1, which is why the writers perpetuate the will they won't they part of it. As for C/M, the reason i don't really like them together is because their romance wasn't planned since the first episode. With chandler and monica, i always got the feeling that the writers were just throwing them together. And also, like you said, they've had many many bad storylines together. But honestly, I dont' mind them as much now, as i've gotten used to them. I don't *love* together, and i certainly wouldn't have predicted them to be a couple, but i don't *hate* them either. The thing that bothers me most about the writers is that chandler and monica had some awful storylines and the writers were determined to make them work, despite the fact that they were occasionally boring. The writers believed that ross and rachel were occasionally boring and decided to break them up. I just don't like hypocritical double standard--it's ok for chandler and monica to be boring, but not ross and rachel.

Tennant Stuarthotmamasita

In article , [email] (hotmamasita) wrote:

Sadly, I feel that the continuity aspect of the RnR story ended at the start of S4. Since then, there have been a number of stunt plots merely devised to trick the fans at end-of-season-cliffhangers.

That's true, it was planned to be two couples (Rachel & Ross and Monica & Joey), with a weirdo Phoebe, and a homosexual Chandler.

Well, after the pilot, Chandler was made heterosexual, and as S1 progressed, some writers felt that Monica would work better with him. There were plans to do something with them in S2, but in the end they introduced Richard instead. Then arguments raged in the writers' camp all through S3, and again they bottled out, finally going ahead with much trepidation in the S4 finale.

That was much later on, where the opposite to the RnR thing was happening. Instead of breaking the couple up because they didn't know what to write for them, there was an CnM story every week whether the writers had a good idea or not. Fortunately, they later stopped doing that, and we began to get Chandler/Joey and Monica/Rachel stories again.

Fair enough.

You are absolutely right, but that's just the way it worked out. They should never have broken up RnR in S3, just given them separate stories with the other four friends, and let them remain a happy couple in the background, the way that Ross & Monica are happy siblings without it needing to be an issue. But having made their mistake, and having then surprised themselves with the success of CnM in S5, the writers seem determined not to make that mistake again and the RnR fans lose out.

Well yes, but then Chandler would have appeared only occasionally, like Gunther, or Jack & Judy, or Carol & Susan. Note originally they didn't all live near to each other, there were just the two Geller apartments at some distance from each other. That all changed with episode 103.

As for ending the series, which might not happen in S10, I reckon that the writers will wait to see how the first part of the new season works out before coming to any decision. This happened with CnM in S5, and they got the green light; then RnR in S6, and they got the red light.

I know what you mean, Pamela. Before this past season, rachel was much more intelligent. Pamela's absolutely right. The writers have dumbed her down to make her more compatible with Joey. Even my mother who has no preference for ross/rachel or rachel/joey has commented to me (without me saying anything to her about it) that the writers have dumbed rachel down. In the end it was decided that the viewers wouldn't care, so they just went ahead anyway.

In S2, an episode featured Sam Malone, who was surprised to find Mr.Crane still alive, but those writers easily explained Martin's presence with one throw-away line - Frasier had fallen out with his father, so he'd lied.

I've also observed that most J/R fans (like myself) are Rachel fans, who want

Joey and Rachel??? Are you guys JOKING???? Talk about a mismatch made in heaven.

Joey has the IQ of a handball and the libito of an alley cat. The eternal womanizer with Rachel??? What is this best being brought out in Rachel you speak of. She's admitted she's infatuated with him, but LOVE????? This is the basis for them being together???

Too bad that a once very funny and effective sitcom has now taken on the dimensions of Days of Our Lives. All we need now is Stefano and Jennifer Aniston's dad (Victor) to show up.

Oh but I think she would feel, looking back, that alot of those things (not sleep with the copy girl) were actually sweet in a Ross sort of way and would see herself with him til eternity! "Kathy" wrote in message news:[email]...
