IMO, yes he does. so far (through 709), he's put his "foot down" a couple of times and has come to Monica's rescue once. A recurring theme seems to be: Chandler does something foolish but redeems himself for Monica.
My own response to the final C and M scene in 702 was...OMG could he BE any sweeter? I didn't think he was caving in, as some have said, but rather offering to make a sacrifice for her sake so she wouldn't have to. If only that happened in my life!

Monica's father had blown all their money so he could not afford *any* wedding, so Chandler offered to pay. Monica wanted to spend the whole lot on a dream wedding, but Chandler wanted most of that money to be for their future, so he put his foot down. Monica totally climbed down, abandoning her lifelong dream, so Chandler kindly gave her some options: a big fancy wedding, but only two children of which one goes to college; or else his own plan of a nice wedding and four children who all go to college.
You could say that Monica caved, while Chandler's foot stayed down, but that's still unfair - he persuaded her to examine her own priorities, and she realised that in the long term, she wanted what he wanted.

It's pointless. I've had this kind of debate with you before, Tennant. I can give you ten examples in great detail and you will examine them as carefully as a hanging chad looking for the technicality that allows you to throw it out as if it had no merit. I used to spend an hour researching a script coming up with a carefully honed explanation behind a specific point and you'd rip it to shreds in seconds with arguments that were often kind of weak. The last time I did that was when I figured out exactly how much C&M dominated last year, and you tried to whittle ten storylines off my total to prove me wrong. Some of your arguments really didn't hold water, but I just didn't have another hour or two to spend on it. Sorry. I'm not doing it again. I don't have that kind of time, nor do I continue to have that level of interest in this steeply declining show. It just ain't as important as making dinner for my family.

I've only seen the first Austin Powers movie, and Dr Evil was the best reason to watch it. I think it would have been hilarious if MP had showed up as one of his vicious helpers. MP needs to do something his fans won't expect of him, and being a bad guy in a movie might be it. (I don't think he could do a *really* evil role, though. He's e.g. no Ralph Fiennes in Schindler's List.) The problem is, like you said, that people won't buy it at first, and I think playing the bad guy in a comedy would be the answer. (However, the thought of MP and John Cleese (R in the latest Bond flick) in a movie together sounds great.)

It takes a certain kind of actor who is capable of pulling a mean face to play a real bad guy. But then again, there are comedy actors that can do much more than comedy. Lisa Kudrow played a villainous greedy slut in "Lucky Numbers," with John Travolta. This movie was released in 2000. I think David Schwimmer has played a villain in a movie, I'm not sure.

For the record my (thinks, uses fingers) great-great-grandfather was. (My great-grandmother's grandfather - yes, that's the right no of greats - was the French ambassador to Egypt at some point in the 19th century.)

There's an awful lot of correspondence (in the genealogical sense) between Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Malta, so it's quite likely. One of my grandmother's family names is a Greek one that's been Italicized at some point.

Ah! I see :) but you're also a small fraction of everything else too :)
Yeah, there was quite alot before the civil war, around my great grandparents generation, and I think my great grandads mum was greek, so that's a little of me sorted out! :) Not so sure about Malta though

same thing!"
An oft-repeated thread (in several groups). To summarise - Britain drives on the right side, which is the left side. The right side of the road is the wrong side. It's all to do with swords, guns, horses and the fact that Napoleon was a bit of an egotist who wanted to make sure everyone under his command behaved as differently from his enemies as possible.
That's the short version. Fight it out, or wait for next week and I'll elaborate. ;)

Yes, Beth Broderick yummmmmmmmmmmm, I've lusted after her since she was one of the Five Mrs.Buchanans. Oh, and I was at someone's house last night, and they had Married With Children on, and she was a posh lawyer in it. First episode of MWC I've ever appreciated, (but not exactly enjoyed).

If they're *not* new episodes they are as invalid for comparison as Friends & Frasier.

What about MJH in 'The Band Episode' from S2?

I wont do the arms-tired gag, it seems so tacky. I used to not want to fly anywhere and so holidays were always by long car journeys and ferries. One year I went to Disneyland Paris and had a great time and decided that I had to go to Disney World. I decided on a short flight just to stretch my wings first though and headed to Jersey for a short break. With the added confidence of that short trip coupled with my singleminded desire to go to Florida I headed out there the Easter. I never had any great problem with the flight although I did get very bored (Olivia: Terrible flight! Giles: Turbulence? Olivia: Worse, baseball movie) although the mad dash through the terminals of Atlanta airport to catch a connecting flight was interesting. The next year I had no problem with flying to New York especially since it was a Virgin flight and had an interactive onboard entertainment system. Two years after that I decided to go to the West side of the US and rapidly came to the conclusion partly due to the flights that if it's not on the East coast it aint worth it.

It's not so much the plane I have a problem with, it's more the fact that you're very high up in the air...:) (I even had a problem climbing over the climbing wall that was only ten foot off the ground, but for some reason I have no problem absailing 110ft down a cliff, mind you I never looked down...)

Being high up in the air isn't the problem, hitting the ground at high speeds is.
So did I but that's probably down to physical prowess (or rather lack of) when I was a kid. I used to think I was scared of heights yet I am the person who was doing a tapdance over the glass floor in the CN Tower while wondering why people were terrified to even look at the floor let alone walk on it. I also convinced myself that I would never learn to drive, driving just seemed so complicated and yet I was in my car on the day of my 17th birthday practising and regularly drive long distances without a care. Now I don't expect you to just stop being afraid one morning as I doubt anybody shares my unique perspective on life but it can be easy to overcome fears just as long as you don't build them up to be insurmountable.
Well since you're probably too young to know what would happen if somebody gave you a glass of milk to drink in the airport all I can say is that don't pick a window seat, find a nice young guy to keep you occupied during take-off and don't under any circumstances listen to a song entitled 'Ironic'.
You will.
Always CC
no not really, that's how I choose to die, it's just getting that high up in the first place.
I'm not building them up, I don't think, hell I even went down a 90ft cliff guiding the rope with the life of a young Guide in my hands. Well not life, but safety. but getting over the ten foot wall, I got to the top, got my leg over (don't even think it!) looked down and froze... I got off by falling off. tap dancing on the glass floor? OKay how high is this tower?
hehe! I follow your instructions! Will never listen to that song! (it's beginning to bug me anyway)

Don't worry, there seems to be a lack of climbing walls on aircrafts.
Now the problem is that you thought, thinking is very dangerous. If you start to think about something you invite the notion that the thought is in some way possible no matter how improbable it seems at first. Possibly the reason why confronting a fear is good is that it lets you see that the fear is unfounded firsthand. If you believe that you will not get on a plane and go that high up because you are afraid then you set barriers up that have to be overcome when you take a flight. The first time you take a flight, don't think, just go do.

Ironic though if you spent your cash on one of these courses to overcome your fear of flying then didn't have the money to actually get a flight anywhere.
I wont tell you the statistics on how safe flying is compared to other forms of transport because you can list other statistics detailing bad points as well and after all 84% of statistics are made up. Fear is a four letter word and so is will, how that helps I don't know but you never can tell what really does.
Nah, you will.

Now, a plane might be higher up, but you can't be deader than dead, and at least there is only one ground beneath you. As you drive down the motorway, look at the cars going the opposite way.

Yeah, but your chances of surviving such an impact are statistically much less than your chances of surviving a road crash, which was my point. And if you increase the size of that meteor by a few million tonnes we all stand a less than one in 5 billion chance of surviving, which is therefore much much more dangerous than flying or driving.
Anyway, most people die in bed, so you should never go to bed. Or stay home. Or do anything involving sharp objects, gunpowder or animals...

Now you bring a good point up, it has been in my experience that nobody when drunk ever admits to being it. Even if the person is having difficulty balancing, slurring their words, repeating and babbling stuff, has very dilated pupils and large desire for food from a vendor who probably sells the meat of genuine antique Black Death rats they will always claim to be sober and at the most slightly tipsy.

Yeah I did appreciate that and could possibly tell you a few tails but going with the lesbian thing was funnier.

to me
Yet some things you'll never forget, chalk it up on the experience column and progress to make even more mistakes all for experience.
As a guy I'm supposed to hold the opinion that lesbians are the best thing ever and of course are only lesbians because I they're waiting for me and what a real man can do at which point they'll immediately invite me for threesomes. For a while I did hold that opinion but due to certain circumstances including the brief time I spent pretending to be a lesbian in a lesbian chat room.
I didn't particularly know why I was in the chat room and pretending to be a lesbian. The experience was after a huge amount of fun with a group of mates, from the hall I was in, causing all kinds of chaos in chatrooms (you wouldn't believe how much fuss a group of Iraqis cause if they talk about burning that star spangled banner in a US chatroom or what kind of reception the PTC get in some groups) and this time I was on my own. I ended up finding a guy in the room, exposed him and kicked him out and got caught up in a discussion of what it's like when your sexuality is used as a tool for horny guys to . . . During my visits to the room a number of the ladies their asked me if I wanted to cyber with them (I had a rather risqu name) and for some reason I refused and never once asked anybody about their first sexual experience with another female. One such propositioned was a young girl who I managed to end up counselling on her sexuality and the opinions of her family and friends towards her.
I definitely have a changed view towards lesbians, my eyes are somewhat more open. I still think two women making love is more erotic but then it comes from a female knowing the terrain a bit better than a guy does. There's something softer about it than trying to find a hole to . . . .
I think the word you're looking for is, anyway . . . .

All the guys on the show are dominated by the females of the show, actually. Especially Chandler and Ross. Monica, Phoebe, and Rachel usually have the upper hand.

But sex with Monica would be a great compensation for losing an argument though! :)

You're right - but fortunately for Chandler, he doesn't have to lose an argument to get sex with Monica, or else he wouldn't get that much!

Yes - I disagree.
When C&M's relationship first started, he was terrified that any chance remark he made would screw it up, but no I think he had the confidence not to worry over that any more.

CHANDLER: So, I guess this is over.
MONICA: What?
CHANDLER: Well, y'know, you and me, it had to end sometime.
MONICA: Why, exactly?
CHANDLER: Because of the weekend, we had a fight.

Ohhh! (They both realize something there.)CHANDLER: So, this isn't over?
MONICA: (laughs) You are so cute! No. No, it was a fight. You deal with it and move on! It's nothing to freak out about.
CHANDLER: Really? Okay. Great!
MONICA: Ohh, welcome to an adult relationship! (She goes to kiss him.)
CHANDLER: (stops her) We're in a relationship?
MONICA: I'm afraid so.
CHANDLER: Okay.
