My brother in-law is getting married & he is having No children at the wedding EXCEPT for my nephews who he wants IN the wedding.

Here is the problem, The youngest who is 8 is the ring bearer. The older is 10 & no one can think of an activity that would be suitable for him because they want him to be able to walk the isle w/ the wedding party However they don't want him to stand with the wedding party because then there will be more people on the Grooms side than on the brides.

Can anyone make any suggestions that would include him in the ceremony?

They aren't having a Unity candle so lighting that is out.
The bride doesnt have a train so holding her train as she walks down the
isle is out too
The Groom doesn't want 2 pillows for the rings (ie 2 ring bearers)
They dont have a flower girl because the country club where the wedding is
at doesnt let them
drop flowers or blow bubbles or rice or anything so even having him
do a more masculine
version of the flower girls job seems out.

You see where we are having a hard time finding something to give him to do Is there anything you guys can come up with that might give him a role & an excuse to walk the isle. He will be sitting down as soon as he reaches the front but we need for him to have some purpose for walking the isle.

Thanks in advance...

how about walking the bride down the aisle opposite the bride's father, one on each of her arms? He then can sit down up front for the remainder of the ceremony, just like the father.

What about having him lay the aisle runner (usually just a roll of white paper or fabric with string tied to the top)?

He could escort either the bride's mother or grandmother(s) or the grooms mother or grandmother(s). typically they are escorted down the aisle and sit in the front row/pew.

also, when i got married, my pastor advised my groom to carry a hankerchief with him so i could use it if needed. the ten year old could walk down the aisle with a nice hanky and hand it to the groom and sit down, or some variation on that.

i'm just brainstorming here, but if the pastor is going to be have a bible, the 10 year old could walk down the aisle and hand the pastor the bible and then take a seat.

just some thoughts
