Friends Score Deal Worth A Million Dollars An Episode

The six stars of Friends have won a new deal worth $1 million an episode each for the ninth and final season. Jennifer Aniston, 32, Lisa Kudrow, 37, Matthew Perry, 31, Matt Leblanc, 33, Courteney Cox, 36, and David Schwimmer, 34, each stand to earn almost $24 million for the 24 episodes, with a three-month break before shooting begins this August. Ten years ago, they earned just $6,500 an episode. According to a worker at the makers of the hit show, Warner Brothers, next season will definitely be the last, and the stars only made the huge demand because they expected it to be turned down. The employee reveals of the cast, "They don't exactly get on that well any more. And their agents held us to ransom."

I don't believe this, because just yesterday I was reading in the paper that they were far from a deal. Secondly, if NBC/WB weren't going to pay 1 million an episode last year, why all of a sudden are they offering it now? I watched Entertainment Tonight, and they said nothing about it. Plus the factual errors make it hard to believe without some other evidence to back it up. Not really buying the "inside source" quote either.

It's pure gossip, since they haven't signed to a 9th season yet. IIt'soriginally from a Britush tabloid, New of teh world. Too bad that imdb picke dup on teh story. f you read the interview with David Crane, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer that I posted here (from TV Guide Canada) the cast sure doesn't sound like they want to be on a 9th season. I hardly think they would negotiate contracts details until their current contract is about to expire anyway.

I don't believe it either. Every since "Friends:" began, their salary and contract renewals have been as big as the whole Ross and Rachel storyline. It would be big news IF they were to get a deal like this and I don't see them coming back after #8 anyway.
