In episode #412, The One With The Embryos, in the scene right after Phoebe finds out she's pregnant, there is a scene with Rachel and Monica unpacking their stuff, having moved into Joey and Chandler's apartment. Right at the beginning of the scene while the music is still playing, if you look at the top of the screen you can see a boom mike moving around.
I love stuff like that.

The mircophones that pick up the actors' voices are connected to long arms call booms. The boom is supposed to be operated in such a way that the microphone stays above the actor(s) with lines and follows them around as necessary. But, obviously, it should never be allowed to dip into the view of the cameras.
