Fergie Set for Friends Role? World Entertainment News Network--FRIENDS bosses want British royal SARAH FERGUSON to romance dopey JOEY TRIBBIANI in one of the final episodes of the hit sitcom.

According to British newspaper THE DAILY STAR, Fergie has been asked to play a member of a European royal family who falls for MATT LeBLANC's womanizing character.

A source says, "The two of them just seem made for each other. They've so much in common.

"Fergie is thinking the offer over. She's a big fan of Friends and they're hoping she'll agree to appear. She's not a trained actress, but the producers really just want her to play herself. We're sure she could manage that."

The cast of the long-running American show - LeBlanc, MATTHEW PERRY, JENNIFER ANISTON, COURTENEY COX ARQUETTE, LISA KUDROW and DAVID SCHWIMMER - will received a bumper pay packet for the final series.

Each of the six will receive a whopping $1 million an episode - with 22 episodes due to be made.

On the DVD London episode, he makes a move on her and she shuts him down. I doubt she would have a change of heart.

First: any story that breaks in a non-American meda source has to be suspect. Given all the media outlets we have here, both industrial and fan-based, the odds of this sort of tidbit showing up first across the pond are somewhat limited.

The infobeat article is probably crap but I have to disagree with your second point. Fergie made a cameo appearance so it wouldn't be a stretch protraying her as a european royality. As a matter of fact, the part of Carol was played by Anita Barone in TOW Sonagram and Carol was subsequently played by Jane Sibbett in later episodes.

Any story in the Daily Star has to be regarded as suspect. It really doesn't deserve to be called a "news"paper. In terms of accuracy I would put it alongside the American "National Enquirer" Most likely someone in the Star offices saw the series 4 finale, thought "hmm royalty that sells, hmmm Friends that sells" and literally made up the story. Incidentally I believe it was the Star who originally dreamt up the obviously dumb "Rachel dies in childbirth" storyline.
