** OT - NBC Show - 'Watching Ellie' ***

Is anyone watching ? I tried to watch the 1st episode - VERY DUMB. Ought to be off the air by Summertime.

The Seinfeld curse continues. Thoughts ?

I resolved to watch the first 4 in order to give it a chance, but my resolve is weakening, I have to admit. I like (liked?) "Three Sisters". The NBC page says that 3 sisters comes on at 8:30 on Tuesdays, which doesn't seem to me to bode well for the survival of that show. I resent losing 3 sisters for this Ellie thing.

Difficulties I see with the show is that they overreact to problems. Last week, Ellie's sister couldn't show up for some dinner party. What's the correct reaction for that? I would say to just shrug and say OK, but she made it into the biggest deal in the world, very little of which was believable.

I like the clock thing, and I think they should have it with more shows. That way, no matter how much the show sucks, at least you know exactly how much longer you're going to have to suffer.

LOL I think the show appeals more to the "Frasier" crowd, which is probably why they have placed it right before (or lately between) "Frasier" on Tuesdays.

I'm starting to enjoy some bits in it. I'm a little bothered by the basic premise of her affair with this married guy though.

At first I didn't think the clock thing was necessary, but now I see that it's an integral part of the show. It keeps the show moving. The dialogue is quick, the cue pickup is great, and the characters seem quirky like the people that lived in an apartment building I lived in when I was in LA.

I've seen most of the episodes. There isn't much character development outside of JLD. I don't think her character can carry the show alone. Also I haven't found any humor in it yet. Even though I enjoyed the scene where she flashed the tow truck driver but still got the car towed...

Also NBC is working too hard to keep it afloat. If a show can't pull in people to watch on their own then it deserves to sink. I look forward to watching Frasier not Ellie.

I predict it will die within a couple of weeks.

Watching Ellie has good ratings. It's first week over 20 million people watched it. I bet it gets the full 13 half season eps and picked up for at least one more season.

Haven't watched it and never planned on watching it. Too busy watching Buffy anyway

It's one of those shows you really have to see from the beginning because it makes references to itself so much.

Hard to say why I love it. I started watching it because I thought David Boreanez was hot (and now I think James Marsters is hot). Then I got addicted. I like that there are never continuity errors. I like that the producer plans the major plotline years in advance. I like that the characters are real and feel like family. I like that you can analyze the hell out of any episode and still have someone else point out something you missed.

Good actors, great storylines, deeper meaning (everything is metaphorical for what each of us goes through as a teenager/ young adult, ie the demons we face)
