It's Been Awhile

Wow, this group appears to have really died down after the finale. I haven't posted here for almost 5 years and decided to drop back in and check things out. Back then, I used to be on this group every single day. This group I would say averaged over 100 posts a day. I've been monitoring the group over the last couple days and it looks like it's down to around 5 posts a day.

Is any of the "old crew" still here? Paul Hyett, Claire Abraham, Tennant Stuart, William Pora........ and many others.

No that long - they were mostly still here when the series ended in the UK.

I've seen the show for a couple of years, but I really watched the show early this year. Since then (early this year) I also followed this newsgroup.

Here in the Netherlands they have yet to show the tenth season so technically it is not yet over for us :).

This group commonly came to a slow crawl during the summer hiatus except there were still the occasional millings about what happened in the finale & what everyone's predictions for next year would be. Since the season finale was the series finale most people saw it & since there are no new episodes there really isn't much question about the predictions. Although that could be an interesting thread... Each week a few of the regulars get together to write out a new weekly plot for the cast to face... or is that desperation trying to hang on to a show that just desires to be gone?

Quite many people left the NG as soon as the show ended assuming with no show there would be no newsgroup. So there are less lurkers than usual but I believe there will always be a few of us who keep the NG on our list. I know Paul will. Hey Paul do U still have alt Helen or Alt MAY on your list. Talk about cobwebs!!!

Well . . . there haven't been any new MASH developments in 20 years, yet they still have plenty to talk about. Long live FRIENDS re-runs!

Yeah they are Region 1 & sold un the U.S. & Canada so unless U have a multi region DVD player pretty much there is no hope in obtaining the DVDs. They only did the 1st 2 seasons & then stopped. Reportedly due to low sales if you have a multi region DVD player I see the DVDs on EBay for real low prices all the time.

While I don't generally condone piracy, in cases when there is no commercial release of a show on video/DVD, what are fans *supposed* to do?
