Last ever line

There have been a couple of memorable last lines from sitcom series. Some that immediately spring to mind:

Cheers - "sorry, we're closed"

    Only fools and horses (popular UK show, do you
    have it in America?)  " This time next year,
        we'll be billionaires"

MASH - The word 'Goodbye' written in stones.

Can anybody think of a good last line for f.r.i.e.n.d.s.?

Heres mine. Ross and Rahael are aged 90 something and celebrating their 60th wedding aniversary. They have an argument, and the show ends with Ross shouting "We. Were. On. A. Break"

Clever, if only it worked. I don't see Monica herself right back where she started from. If that description fits anyone, it's Ross, therefore my choice would be:

"....hi...."

I know what book-ends are, I get that part of the metaphor. I have no idea what "Phoebe's A and Z" are, although I can see that A and Z can be thought of as book-ends. I have no idea how "20 and 00" can be bookends, however.

But finally, and most importantly, I haven't the foggiest clue how Monica could possibly end up in a situation similar to "There's really nothing to tell". *What* book-ending twist are you picturing here? You aren't suggesting that she will divorce Chandler in season 8, are you?

Besides, "there's nothing to tell" can be used in any number of situations. The writers can use it in a way that fits into whatever the final story is, rewards longtime viewers who remember the first line of the show, and also carries the added meaning of, "the show has ended; there's nothing [left] to tell." I like it. :)

In the very first episode, the first conversation was between George and Jerry about a button. In the very last episode, when they were sitting in jail, the last conversation they had was the same thing about the button.

Yes, I was thinking about that, too. It was a nice touch in the finale--very absurdist. BTW, I just rewatched the Seinfeld episode where Courteney Cox was on as Merle, the girlfriend pretending to be Jerry's wife to get a 25% discount off of her drycleaning. Hinjinx ensue. :)

Those "girlfriend" guest spots weren't typically all that big--she didn't do too badly, considering. Even Janeane Garofalo, playing Jerry's very shortlived fianc�e, Jeannie Steinman, only had one full episode (with comparable screen-time) and one flashback scene in another.

That's the kind of thing they have in films...I think they'll just have them all hugging or something without any words. I mean sometimes you don't need words, it can be far more powerfull to just have a picture.

Most definitely, I mean look at the end of season 6, they didn't know if they were gonna continue so the ended with the scene of them all hugging. (please excuse my bad grammar and spelling, I'm a lazy old sod)

I get it now ;-) I guess I assumed the circularity had to do not only with the line itself but also the original situation it applied to, but I'm not sure why I thought that.

Last ever line/episode:

I like the idea of them not going to Central Perk anymore....kind of like St. Elmo's Fire when the group doesn't go back to the Restaurant/Bar they all hang out....

I see them all having a last cup of coffee and scone .."My Scone! My Scone!" ...and they all leave.

Cut to a few days later, and six others are in there, hanging out, talking...camera pans over to the counter....

And Gunther looks at the camera and says "I'm never getting outta here..."

Last ever line/episode:
