812, TOW Joey Dates Rachel, is up against the finale of Survivor III. Only a TV event of this caliber would make me think this, but yeah, there may be something to your speculation on Joey and Rachel after all. I see a controversial episode that will have everybody in hysterics and buzzing like crazy - an episode that was made to try to get attention off Survivor. Joey and Rachel as a couple would do that. I don't see the episode setting in stone whether or not Joey and Rachel will STAY together; sweeps will still have to handle that. A huge amount may depend on whether David Schwimmer signs up for another season, or if they even have another season. A season nine without Schwimmer increases the chances that you get what you want. A series that ends in season eight decreases it. The plot thickens.

Actually abrahammy, I'm willing to go in your favor and say that since the Survivor 3 finale is airing opposite this episode, that nothing will likely come of Joey and Rachel's date.

Last year I believe they rearranged the shows to where the usual clip show they stick on at the end of the season aired opposite the last Survivor finale. They do this so no one misses anything important on Friends. If they revealed Rachel was pregnant opposite the final show of Survivor, no one would have hardly noticed!

I think until we see a spoiler from nbcmv.com, and the trailer for the show which surely will show some interesting footage, we probably should hold on the speculation.

Surely she knows how pivotal a role she plays on the show and I doubt there will be a season 9 if they lose JA. I personally think she should not settle for anything less than $1.5M per eppy. NBC is probably salivating at the $ another season of Friends can bring them. So don't let them go cheap on you. You can do it girl NBC & Crane need you more than you need them.

Look...we all know that its always been LK and DS who were the problem...Ross's character has had a bad affect on DS and he feels he needs better roles and LK has been played down because i think she is a great actress and comedian and could be doing more diverse comedy, like in her movies which I thought were great(Analyze This, Opposite of Sex, Hanging Up).

I haven't heard anything about JA thinking about leaving. She doesn't look like she has a very good movie career except for Rock Star. And she's making EXCELLENT money. I hope the cast doesn't get to greedy because they should remember the homeless, September 11 victims, and even other sitcom stars who are getting less than them.

Plus, remember the deal the cast made that they wouldn't continue without all 6 of them?

With all due respect, nothing abt season 9 has been set in stone. David Crane maintains that Friends will return if at least 5 of the 6 cast members renew their contracts. I just doubt if the latter can come about if its only JA that opts out instead.

I'm not aware if DS & LK are the problem. As professionals earning EXCELLENT money I would venture a guess that they consider it just business and not take what is done to their characters personally.

I doubt too if the cast of six can negotiate their salaries collective this time around as NBC is going to pay $6M in salaries otherwise. Therefore my hunch is with them negotiating separately.

The upper hand is definitely with JA, you don't have to be a big screen megastar, but the fact that Friends is raking in major dole for NBC - she's the star of season 8 and appears irreplaceable - that gives her the distinct advantage. $1.5 M an eppy and no less JA!

He isn't pushing for more money for the cast. Just for Jennifer. He doesn't care about the rest. She will not get paid anymore than anybody else, and she should not. They have a very long-standing agreement with each other than everybody should always be treated the same. Courteney and Matthew did not get paid more when they were dominant in the show, and JA will not now.

The casts wages are not in direct proportion to screen time. All six will be paid equally until the show ends.

OK, if the reason that David Swimmer wants to leave the show is because he would like to leave the Ross character behind and would rather play a different character. One that is not such a loser. Then the writers really need to work on making Ross a winner this 8th season so that DS would want to stay. He really seems like the one that wants to leave the show the most. If the writers really want to show to continue they need to put a little more effort into Ross's character.

I'm not going to speculate on the reasons for DS or the rest wanting to leave the show but its definitely more than just how a character is written. Its only normal to expect the cast to want fatter pay checks given the success this season. If there is going to be equal pay rises for everyone, I suspect they would all want $1M/eppy and stick to combined negotiations that has worked well in the past. The question will then be if NBC is prepared to fork out extra $ needed and if it is at all viable to be paying not 1 but 6 actors their asking salary. Personally I hope that the cast stick to the deal of not returning if one of them opts out.
