Damnit TBS, why. WHY???????

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this here, but why in the biggest market in the world, the city that FRIENDS 'takes place in', would TBS feel compelled to move their airing of FRIENDS to parallel the WB11 showing of FRIENDS at 7PM EST.

When TBS first got the FRIENDS series, life was grand. They played FRIENDS at 6:30PM and 7:30PM ... then you had WB11 playing FRIENDS at 7PM and 11PM ... couldn't be better. Now TBS dropped one of their episode slots, and moved the other to 7PM (for a few weeks now), the exact same time that FRIENDS is on, on another channel. Is it just me or does that seem very stupid to everyone else? They are competing FRIENDS against FRIENDS ... and since the WB11 had it first at 7PM, and shows it twice a day, I am watching that one, and not the TBS troublemaker episode at 7PM.

Are other cities getting this problem? I ask all of you to send a complaint to TBS telling them to not put FRIENDS against FRIENDS, it's just plain wrong.

The same thing happens in Chicago. Friends is on TBS and WGN simultaneously. Very annoying.

But aren't WGN and TBS showing the same syndicated episode? I don't think that's the same situation as New York. I could be wrong because I don't live in either city. In Minneapolis I watch TBS at 6PM CT, then our ABC affiliate shows a different episode at 6:30PM. Then, at 10PM we get another on independant station 45.

Then, on Thursdays, of course, we get the bonus showing of the new episodes on NBC, so, I do nothing but watch friends. OMG I need a life. <bg>

I think that the reason that they did that was to see if people were watching Frasier because it is a good show or if it is because it is on after friends. I don't know if Frasier is on after Friends everywhere, but that is the only explanation I could come up with.

I agree, though I have a different situation. I'm at USC in LA and our cable feed is through the East Coast (I believe we use a satellite), except for the local networks. We used to get the WB11 feed on channel 83, so I could watch friends at 4 and 8pm, then watch the same episodes over again at 7 and 11pm on our local WB affiliate KTLA5. For some reason though, channel 83 is now off-air. Now I can watch Friends on TBS at 4 without having to switch back and forth with WB11. But I do remember back in December when I had the same dillema as you, though it was slightly different since I could watch it again at 7. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. BTW, KTLA5 used to air Friends also at 6pm back in December, giving me the opportunity to watch Friends at 3:30 (TBS), 4 (WB11), 4:30 (TBS), 6 (KTLA5), 7 (KTLA5), 8 (WB11), and 11 (KTLA5)...of course I never watched every single episode since my reason for being here is to study :-)...okay, I did it a few times... I used to be on AOL. I felt it was a big hole into which I was throwing a lot of money each money. I still throw away a lot of money but my access speed is 30 times greater than anything I could get with AOL.

The chats were good, but other places have chats for free. IMs are good, but you can do the same thing with MSN, and each can be done free without either's full-blown service. Almost all services on AOL can be found elsewhere for much less or free. So, I decided to free myself of the AOL/Time Warner shackles.

Having said that, our cable company is Time Warner here in Minneapolis. So, I'm guessing it's only time until AOL goes high-speed on our cable system. If that happens I might have no choice, and so I too might be sucked back into the black hole I call AOL. (It wouldn't be too bad if the access speed rivals my current cable setup.)
