Was Jessie cancelled? I think that was the name of it. The single gal with the son and she liked the neighbor who was an illegal alien.

It was not canceled. NBC purchased two full seasons from Warner Brothers. After the second season's production wrapped, NBC decided to not "renew" the show for a third season.
On the other hand, Veronica's Closet was canceled. NBC pulled the plug during the production season. They continued to film the remaining four shows since they were paid for and a syndication deal with USA was in the works.
