Is there going to be a 9th season?

Hi group, I read the post today something about the 9th season and found it strange since a friend told me that this was the last season of friends... I've been rather sad that this is the final season, but now my hopes are up! Should I be kicking my friend in the a**? thanks

Actually, yes there will. But the ninth season is definitely (according to the producers) the final season.

It's hard to read sarcasm into the written word, but based on your references to all the other threads on this topic and the fact that there will indeed be a ninth season, I assume "no there won't be a ninth season" is sarcasm.

You people must just have joined this group. No problem, that's why we're here. Yes there will be a 9th series, but this "will" be the last. As there are rumours that the wil make cast-off shows like the Seinfeld actors did.

What I hate more than one of my favourite series ending, is when it is cancelled with a storyline unresolved, e.g. Caroline in the City, or Cybill.

Funny you should mention Cybil. An acquaintance of mine played the waiter in that restaurant Cybil and Christine Baranski went to all the time. In an episode from that final season, he is featured, but alas, the episode never aired as the show was cancelled in mid-season. How's that for a bum deal? (Btw, his name is Tim Maculan, and he played the food critic in TOW The Cooking Class.)

The good news, however, is that those lost episodes of Cybil are being distributed in Syndication. I had the pleasure of seeing Tim's big episode on Oxygen, that new "Woman's channel" on cable.

I thought 100 episodes were needed for syndication? Only 87 episodes of Cybill were made.

That's true. I would say he was "THE Waiter" at the restaurant :-) I have a feeling Tim would be too modest to promote himself that way though.

I think 100 is an approximation. But OTOH, Oxygen might have just bought out the rights altogether. I just assumed it was syndicated.

Perhaps, but unfortunately that episode was done farce-style, a form of comedy that irritates me immensely.

The only other waiter named was Zoe's cheating boyfriend Shaun (not counting Cybill's very brief spell as a waitress!).

Of course, another reason I liked the show will be obvious to people here who know me well - Dedee Pfeiffer being one of the stars! :)
