Not landing on him, just letting him know that it would be nice to have space if an episode name gives away some plot development. Sometimes I've found that the episode name gave nothing away in plot development but Spoiler Space

TOW the Proposal. Seemed like a plot spoiler to me. Not for the US but for the UK. Who have not heard of anything to do with Chandler proposing. Or..anyone. The last few weeks before this were repeats. The week before that was TOW Mac and Cheese, which I dont see any spoiler. TOW Ross dates a Student is but that was before I became interested in doing this.

I wish I knew. The only thing I can say is that *no* series in syndication that I am aware of has ever run the episodes in order (Babylon 5 sounds like an exception, but it's really not the same kind of syndication). When Mad About You first started showing up in syndication, I figured after showing 1.11 "Met Someone" and then the season 3 episode about how Paul and Jamie got married, they then switched to a random number generator for the rest of it. About the only thing you can hope for is that they will generally show season 1 before season 2 before season 3 before season 4 etc., though even that is subject to exceptions.

You also have to remember that it used to be that each episode of a series - comedy OR drama - was stand-alone, so they figured "who cares?". Old habits are hard to break.

I remember when I was watching old repeats of 90210 they did this too. They jumped around, but after a few years the pieces were filled in. They would start playing a season in order.. and then all of the sudden change seasons, like they are doing with friends.

I hate it...ARGH

I think FX has been showing all the Married With Children episodes in order but excluding the Christmas shows out of them but to me the Seinfeld syndication is real bad. They choose any episode at random and then will play the same episode 3 weeks later.

Let's see, excellent sitcoms like Friends, Seinfeld, and Mad About You that care about continuity to a decent extent are treated in syndication like standalone episodes shown willy nilly in random order, while ....

A god-forsaken ridiculous excuse for a sitcom whose content is an offense to the contents of a baby's soiled diapers is reverently shown in proper episode order??????????

Actually, what I think eventually happens is that episodes get shown in production order (which is not the same as broadcast order). Even then though, there are exceptions. But I can recall M*A*S*H episodes being shown in production order. I never realized until visiting an on-line episode guide recently that "Henry Please Come Home" was actually shown about #9 or #10 in broadcast order in the first season. It was the first episode made after the pilot, and in syndication it was always shown right after the pilot.

I would agree with you but, that doesn't explain them switching seasons from one day to the next.

You're probably right about that, but I'd watch the episodes anyway if they were on and I was watching tv at the time, I usually pull out a tape w/ Friends episodes on them when I need some cheering up or if the weather's bad & I'm stuck inside or something. One thing that's annoying though, is that they'll have the season 5 episodes on in one of the syndication times, then like a week later the second airings will have season 5 on the other one so you're watching episodes you just saw the week before. (I get Friends at 6:30 & 7 so it's more noticeable then when it was on at 7 & 11).Plus the station that shows friends sometimes will pre-empt for baseball & basketball games and that makes it difficult to tape in order.

FX is pretty good about showing shows in order. Right now, they're showing 90210 in order. They've skipped a few episodes here and there, but at least they haven't gone from like season 2 to the middle of season 4 (like it did before FX was the only one showing reruns and confused the hell out of me cuz I'd never seen the show before it started in syndecation!)

The Paramount Comedy Channel in Britain tries hard to avoid the sins of your syndicators, but they *have* made mistakes because of the production order problem: such as Jerry Seinfeld watching cable TV, then acquiring cable in the next episode. However, PCC are very audience friendly, so after being informed they put this right the next time round.

PCC have in fact shown some series in the correct order which were never shown properly in America: one example being "Encore! Encore!", starring top British actress Joan Plowright, that NBC badly messed about.

One of the biggest transmission order errors was in S4 of Cybill, where the episode relating to Cybill's mother's funeral was transmitted way *before* the episode the one where Cybill heard of her death.

basically I bought the 8 hour tapes which actually is only 2 hours and 20 minutes in SP mode which I have to use with this VCR.

I figure if I go by Chris's broadcasting schedule I can see how much time I need to leave for an episode.. It's just a lot of work, plus I have on emore problem. I work thursday nights. I can't edit out the commericials that day. that just throws everything off. Summer is coming and I'm taking up a bunch of jobs and going to be busy as hell so I probably will mess it all up, especially with my orgnaization skills.

a year? Well the saturday episode is out of the question for several reasons. One its in a completley different spot. 2 my mom is home and will mess it up. 3 I work ALL day on saturdays.

146 episodes diveded by 5 is about 15 weeks which is about 4 months. I could pull it off in a year for sure, I sure hope I get it done before then, or buy them!
