Friends ran over?

I set my VCR for 9:00 to 10:00 and it cut off before the end! Then I noticed ER didn't end until 11:05! Did something earlier in the night bump the schedule 5 mins? Was this just my local station? (I watched on WRC-TV in DC).

No, the final episode ran for an 1:05.

yea, I had mine set to 10:01, figuring ER would start early as usual. Luckily I was home, so when it ran over, I hit the record key and just got a little blip in the recording. I'll probably be getting the DVD next week anyway ;^) My recording has a bunch of Severe Thunderstorm Warnings on the bottom of the screen. It was kind of funny, the weatherman said was hoping he wouldn't have to interrupt the last episode with a Tornado warning.

I like the post about the weatherman--ALMOST as bad as what happened to our viewing area. Our local NBC affiliate is WLBT, out of Jackson, MS. Late Thursday afternoon, there was an automobile accident that severed power to the station. I called our CBS Station, WJTV, and they had sent their crews to help them fix the problem. (Talk about nice--rival network and all!) Soooo, power was restored 13 minutes into the Last Episode. WLBT will be airing TOW All the Other Ones and The Last One Sunday night.

Losing "traction" on the tape and making horrid sounds. It was within the extended warranty my VISA provided, and they sent me a check. I normally don't watch Friends, but I tuned in for the finale. When I looked at the clock and saw that it was 9:05 (I'm in Dallas), I remember thinking that it would really suck for people who set their VCRs to stop taping or to change channels at the top of the hour.

With regards to NBC being notorious, back in 2001 there was a thread on alt.tv.er about ER starting a few minutes *early* in most markets - people were switching from watching the end of CSI, and discovering they had missed some of the opening footage on ER.

My problem is with NYC Cable I have this new DVR box sort of like Tivo, so when I set the Cable box (actuaoly at the beginning of the season) all I do is say records new epsiodes for this series. The electronic TV guide had no clue and only recorded from 9 to 10, but I to was home, and hit the manual record button to record the balance. Big mistake by somebody in whomever sets this stuff up. Normally I have Grad school on Thursdays and would have missed the end and would have been pissed

Uhhhh...Friends ALWAYS runs over??? Not as many minutes as the last episode...but during the last several seasons, it ALWAYS ran at least one minute or more over. NBC can sneak in extra adds that way and they figure it helps segue and maintain some viewers to stay tuned straight into the next program and not change the channel.
