Nielsen ratings

Here are the Nielsen ratings for last week:

• (1) ``ER,'' NBC, 19.2, 19.8 million homes.

• (X) ``Friends-8:30,'' NBC, 18.0, 18.5 million homes.

• (2) ``Friends,'' NBC, 16.6, 17.0 million homes.

• (4) ``Will & Grace,'' NBC, 15.8, 16.1 million homes.

5. (10) ``NFL Monday Night Football: Tampa Bay at Minnesota,'' ABC, 14.9, 15.2 million homes.

Surprisingly, the second episode BEAT the season premiere - and by a decent margin, too. I'm not sure what that means for the show.

ER was in its usual spot at Number 1. I don't see that ever changing.

Frasier wasn't new last week. They'll probably become second - easily.

The scary thing is the rise of Will & Grace. Friends had better watch its back, or it will soon be only the #3 comedy in the U.S.

I'm not sure if that's correct, but I know that "Friends" was watched by 25 million, at least. That's what it says on [address], anyway. I remember reading that their rating was higher than last season's average.

Will and Grace is an okay show - but it doesn't compare to Friends.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
