Ive heard that they do these "clip" episodes to give everyone a break. and i may be way off, but they could also be doing it so that they can work on this whole season 7 thing and contracts and stuff. just a guess but maybe. but i do know that they do these to give writters and actors a little break

Well sure, it's good reasoning, but why do it with so few episodes left to film? If I were part of the crew or cast, I'd much rather just get the last lot over and done with earlier, than take a mini break at this late stage.

Remember that there were extra episodes in November (TOW Ross Got High) and February (the two-parter) - making the show run ahead of schedule - so it was either a "clips" episode or reruns for like six weeks in a row to take the show to May. So, I'm guessing the finale will be 624/625 - an extra episode without extra-contractual filming.

2) The producers had some time to focus on what direction they wanted to take the show in the finale and beyond. My thinking is that they wanted to get a solid idea of whether or not there would be another season. Presumably, they had a plan for ending it this season and a plan for continuing it. If the cast decided to end it, they would have to wrap up all the loose ends to the best of their ability which would explain not only the C&M proposal which seems looming, but R&R's storyline in the past month or so and beyond. First you have Ross giving Rachel his reasoning for ending his kiss with Jill and now you have them once again leading somewhat parrallel love lives with Paul and Elizabeth. These storylines give them options for the season finale where if the show was to end, R&R could get back together without it being totally out of the blue. If the show continues, they could just drop it(again), which would be rather weak writing, or they could have them simply share a kiss in the heat of the moment and then leave everything up in the air for next season.

My conclusion would be that BKC are convinced that there will be another season so they went ahead and brought in Tom Selleck to add a great deal of dramatic tension, not to mention a doozy of a cliff-hanger to all the C&M fans. I can't see bringing Richard in for an hour-long, last episode ever, to create tension for C&M, have that tension resolved, and then have a C&M marriage without it coming across as overly rushed and very unfufilling for those who don't really care one way or the other about C&M. I think if this was the end, they would have an episode that tied everything up in equal proportion, but if it was to continue, they would have a largely C&M dominated(there's that word) episode. My hope for the shows finale, when it does end, would be for it to focus on them all equally so that no one feels cheated and also because the show's about the 6 friends, not about a couple(no matter which one).

Why is everyone against a clip show? I don't think the ones we've had so far were *that* bad. In fact, the way this season has been going, I'd rather have a clip show, then a below-par regular episode. I can't explain how dissapointed I have been this season. It better pay off in the end...
